Avs don’t do this, that Sens pick is too valuable.
I don’t have any interest in trading Zib as well, at least as of now, Hayes is likely being moved and Chytil isn’t ready to be a 1C yet

So the Avs fans bitch and moan about being a 1 line team and needing a bona fide 2nd line center but when a proposal is made offering one (and a really good one at that) a first and a prospect is too much?

Then stay a 1 line team and keep being a bubble team. Look at what teams pay for pieces then get back to me

Just because we have a need doesn’t mean we’re looking to fill it at any cost.

Did you just type "and a really good one at that"?

With Ottawa sitting 2 points away from second to last, their pick is as unavailable as it has ever been.
Isn’t like half the league 4-6 points away from picking top 5? There is way too much volatility at this stage of the season to attach any sort of realistic value to the pick unless it’s generically “they won’t make the playoffs”. The Ott pick could be 2 or it could be 8.

Either way, 1st + Makar is most likely a bit much but Zib is criminally underrated imo. If he is healthy he is lock for 55+ pts at a minimum and plays well above average defensively and is good in the dot.

There are plenty of Avs fans that are perfectly happy to let things play out this season and see what happens when Makar, Timmins, Kaut and possibly Ottawa 1st round pick is added next year.

It's not like Avs have zero secondary scoring. Kerfoot has 18 points and Söderberg has 15 points.

Ottawas 1st rounder isn't just "a first". It has a very good chance of being a top ten pick and a decent chance of being a top five pick. That's the reason you included it in your proposal to start with.

They’re firmly in the running for a top 5 pick and their PDO is currently above average. Plus, the obvious, they could finish 8th from last and still win a lottery spot. It isn’t something we’re going to trade for 2nd line help.

A first and a prospect can mean many things. In this case you know darn well that you are asking for 2 top 5 prospects. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yes. I think the Senators were about 19th overall several days ago iirc, or around that. Who knows where they'll be next week or at any time. They can score, but can't defend.

Asking for Ottawa 1st + Cale Makar for Mika Zibanejad isn't far off from the Avs asking for NYR 1st + Lias Andersson for Tyson Barrie.
Not for Barrie but Landeskog. Zibanejad is one of the best in NY. IMO Barrie value for Avs isn't as high.

At the draft something as high as the Ottawa pick (if it's not top 4 or 5) + Timmins + a b-prospect/the OTT 3rd round pick...assuming we couldn't use a similar basis for a trade for a better Center and Barrie wasn't looking for something crazy like 10M on his extension...could make sense for the avs.

Lets the Rangers focus on selling off their rentals first; it turns that sens pick into less of a wild gamble to give up; it lets Timmins get back onto the ice in games, and Colordo to have a better sense for the kids that are already in the organization.

Although with how poorly they're tanking this year, I understand the argument that shipping Zibby & Kreider out ASAFP may not be the worst of ideas
