The standings got reallllly close after last night and some Americans picking up points for the teams in the bottom half. 1st and 7th separated by just 3 points with lots of action today!

Lots of movement today. A very tight 3-9 with a couple guys pulling ahead at the top in Scorevat53 and FinPanda. Hat tricks by Kurashev and Poehling led the way for these guys.

Still plenty of time! And can only go up from last year ;)

It's tough when guys you expect to produce big like Necas just aren't doing anything. I'm feeling that right now with a somehow pointless Zadina

Yes I think my main mistake is not picking the right players.

For a seemingly pretty uneventful schedule yesterday, there sure was a lot of movement for some. Canada4Gold and TheBeastCoast led by their many Russians picked up 8 and 7 points respectively moving them from the middle of the pack to a tie for the top. While they picked up that many points, there were 5 of us who didn't pick up ANY yesterday (Scorevat, FinPanda, Myself, LainePeg and TMOMR). A huge day today though so plenty of opportunity to recover the lost ground!

After the round robin, it looks like we still have a 6 way race for the top spot, with everyone within 3 points. Canada4Gold and TheBeastCoast maintain their slight edge in their 1st place tie. Big days from Khabby and czechcanadian kept them in the running. Looks like it won't be a repeat for me this year! :ha:

Canada4Gold takes sole possession of 1st place after the quarters with a 6 point day with TheBeastCoast right behind him. czechcanadian also moves up to a tie for 2nd with a pool leading 8 point day. Scorevat53 and Khabby have work to do but can still win this. Meanwhile, FinPanda had a 0 point day to pretty much take him out of contention here...but I don't think he will be too disappointed with that considering the results (Congrats Finland). The other 4 of us have witnessed a lot of let-dows and appear to be duking it out to not finish last.

Also very key in all this; the tournamnet itself is down to just 6 teams. With a couple of the big dogs in Sweden and Canada out it makes this very interesting. Here is an update of how many players each team has remaining in the tournament after losing their many Canadians, Swedes, Czechs and Slovaks:

Canada4Gold: 8 remaining (5F, 3D)
Scorevat53: 4 remaining (3F, 1G)
Khabby: 5 remaining (3F, 2D)
TheBeastCoast: 5 remaining (3F, 1D, 1G)
FinPanda: 5 remaining (3F, 1D, 1G)
Zemgus26: 4 remaining (1F, 2D, 1G)
TMOMR: 6 remaining (4F, 2D)
LainePeg: 4 remaining (2F, 1D, 1G)
Tapu Coco: 4 remaining (2F, 2D)
czechcanadian: 2 remaining (2F)

So looking at this the race for 1st may be clearer than first thought. C4G has the clear advantage going into the final 2 days of games and is the heavy favourite to win the pool. TheBeastCoast still has a chance but it will be tough. czechcanadian doesn't appear to have enough players left to make a push. Anything can happen though, looking forward to see what turn of events is next in the coming days!

If I want to win I need the Fins to have a 6-5game with Swiss. Kurashev 5P. Also would have helped if the Canada Vs Finalnd game was a 6-5 game yesterday...
