Good player, I have fond memories of him. He had a good career - but 49 is way too young to go.

Had a short stint in zurich playing for my team. Loved it, even though he wasn't that good anymore. Will definitively never forget him.

Way too young, one of the most memorable players and by far the most memorable name on some rather forgetable Whalers teams back in the early 90s.

sad to hear just as it is when anyone passes away.

so many posters mentioning he had a great name and other then one from page one that was close but not correct i'm surprised no one has mentioned what i've always said was the best hockey nickname :

I always remember hoping and thinking he might blossom into a superstar. Was a very solid player though for a long time.

Was I the only one surprised to read that he was Canadian?

With a name like Zarley Zalapski, for like 20 years I always just assumed he was eastern European.
