Janney was no better than Linden, its just Hull was a shooter who scored a lot from a set offence and not cherry picking. Hull's style although less flashy involves him finding open spots on the ice to unleash his shot. Bure's strategy meant that less players touched the puck because he need to score off the rush using his great speed. Bure just needed the other players on the ice to launch the puck to him. When it worked it worked, but when it didn't it meant disaster. Bure had the rare ability of being a 60 goal man with great consistency when healthy without making a single player around him better. Hull made everybody on the ice better by drawing extra attention.

You don't think Bure didn't draw attention?? You don't think defensemen thought twice before pinching when Bure was on the ice? Look at Gino Odjick, he got 16 goals just by going to the net when Bure had the puck.

Bure is unconventional, and flawed, but he's become underrated.

Yeah but it takes alot of talent to have four 58-60 goal seasons without depending on any linemates. That's the greatness of Bure, he could score on his own and he made amazing highlight reels while doing this. There is a reason why he's a god in Vancouver and Russia, while Brett Hull will be forgotten in 15 years. There is no doubt that Pavel Bure will go down as one of the most popular players ever. He was simply far more talented than Brett Hull could ever dream of being.

Agree with Vachon, Howe, Tremblay and Oates...Mats Naslund needs to be in there somewhere

I'm actually one of the bigger boosters of Bure on this board, but in the context of comparing him to Brett Hull I cannot sing his praises.
