Strengths:
- Forward depth out the wazoo; rolling 4 scoring lines
- Strong defense
- Lots of youth being injected into lineup

Weaknesses:
- The powerplay coaching was a disaster last year; has to improve
- Allen a question mark as starting goalie
- We don't have a traditional 4th line, it's just a bunch of kids; this may or may not become a weakness, we'll have to see

Good list. I don't think the lack of a 4th line is a weakness unless the kids don't perform. I do think it will be troublesome when we try to inject 4th line scrubs in as injury call-ups. I'd say the youth is a potential double edged sword so it fits both positives and negatives. I'll just add a couple more to the above.

Negatives (going here first because I am a pessimist):
- Rookie mistakes/fatigue - 4 rookies (Schmaltz, Thomas, Kyrou, Blais) + Barbashev and Dunn with < 100 games.
- No Elite level talent - 80+ points or award consideration, although Pietrangelo and Tarasenko are close but need to take over games more consistently

Positives:
- Don't need to play match-ups, solid face-offs and defensive skill with all Cs

Leafs
Strengths - Will have without question the best defence in the league, right up there with Nashville and SJ.

Weakness - Will have a very hard time scoring goals this year, will have to win alot of games 1-0 or 2-1

Strengths:
Center
Right Wing
Goaltending

Weaknesses:
Left Wing, especially right handed shots
Defense

This is very generous.

My opinion:

Strengths:
Depth overall - Despite the rebuild, we still can have 4 scoring lines and 3 decent D pairings
Center depth - some decent centers for sure, but no one elite
Left wing depth - Kreider, Vesey, Namestnikov, Spooner

Weaknesses:
No blue chip prospects
Goaltending - After Lundqvist, the future is uncertain

We have the best goalie prospect on the planet

Strength: Defense.
  • Erik Johnson, Tyson Barrie, Sam Girard, Ian Cole, Nikita Zadorov, Patrick Nemeth, Mark Barberio, with Connor Timmins (IR) on the cusp. Easily the best group Colorado has had in a decade.

Weakness: Right wing.
  • Left wing is more or less okay (Landeskog, Kerfoot, Nieto, Calvert), but on the right side, things get really grim after Rantanen. Colin Wilson, Gabriel Bourque, Sheldon Dries, and Sven Andrighetto (IR) round out that group.

Strengths: Scoring, depth, and franchise-level players at C, D, G, and W.

Weaknesses: I don't know how we manage to play so weak defensively with this personnel, but we always underachieve in our own end. Always.

Strengths

Our offence is pretty great -)Tavares, Matthews, Kadri, Marner, Nylander, Marleau....
Left side defence is decent -) Rielly, Gards, Dermott, Borgman, Rosen, Marincin

Weaknesses

Right side Defence -) Lacking a top pairing defenceman...
Goalie Depth after Andersen ugh -) Sparks isn't great, if andy goes down we will be running either a combo of Sparks, Kaskasiou or Sparks, Mcadam.. Not good....

How 2015 of you.

Leafs have Zaitsev, Ozhiganov, and Liljegren (future #1 RHD) on the right side. Not sure I would call that a weakness. It’s certainly a belief held by the hockey illiterate, though.

I would agree goaltending depth is an area of concern for the moment. Not sure it’s dire, could sign Mason or Lehtonen in a pinch.

So far?

Elias as a strength

Most of the rest as a weakness

Any positive things happening through skill and ability pretty much start and end with #40.

The rest of the team hasn’t done much outside of what any other average cast of nhl level characters can accomplish.
