Islanders:
Coach: Ted Nolan (07)
GM: Neil Smith (40 days between 06 and 07. Made great moves and isn't Garth Snow)
Forwards:
Anders Lee (18) - John Tavares (15 or 13) - Josh Bailey (18)
Our current top line. Tavares is Tavares, Lee gets the goals up front, and Bailey makes the passes.
Miroslav Satan (06) - Mat Barzal (18) - Jordan Eberle (18)
Almost put Moulson here, but he wouldn't be able to keep up with Barzal. Barzal passes and can also score, Eberle puts em in the net, and Satan compliments them nicely. Eberle and Barzal also have great chemistry.
Jason Blake (07) - Alexi Yashin (07) - Kyle Okposo (14)
Blake and Yashin have great chemistry. Isles fans may hate Yashin because of the trade and contract, but he was damn good as an Islander. Blake had 40 goals that year on Yashin's wing. Okposo in 2014 finished the year with 27 goals and 69 points, and could have been top 5 in scoring if he didn't get hurt.
Michael Grabner (11) - Mike Sillinger (07) - Bill Guerin (08)
Grabner compliments the vets with speed, and had 34 goals in 2011. Sillinger fits over Nielsen in a fourth line role. Guerin rounds it out nicely.
Honorable mentions: Frans Nielsen (16), Matt Moulson (11), PA Parenteau (11), Blake Comeau (11)
Defensemen:
Nick Leddy (17) - Johnny Boychuk (15)
They have great chemistry together, and Leddy is great at rushing the puck, while Boychuk has a wicked shot and is great in his own end. They were the team's best defensemen in these years.
Mark Streit (13) - Brendan Witt (07)
Streit is a perfect power play quarterback, and Witt is a solid stay at home defenseman with great hitting.
Lubomir Visnovsky (15) - Travis Hamonic (15)
Same as above. 2015 was Hamonic's best year by far. And if he and Lubo were healthy, I'm pretty sure we could have beat the Caps in the playoffs.
Honorable mentions: Calvin de Haan (17), Sean Hill (07)
Goalies:
Rick DiPietro (07)
Was a stud until the injuries happened, but was never the same since.
Jaroslav Halak (15)
Was an all star and set franchise records in sv% and wins
Honorable mentions: Thomas Greiss (16), Dwayne Roloson (10), Evgeni Nabokov (13)
Clearly, 2007 and 2015 were our best years.
