He did. There was one long PK shift he had that stood out, where he had two clears and a blocked shot. He was also surprisingly active offensively too.

Hard to complain about the defensemen when you only give up one goal, but even considering that I thought they all had strong games tonight.

sucks that Patches and SVEEECHNIKOV! are injured. I Really thought the Canes were going to compete with the Lightning to go to the Finals.

Who knows though, Perhaps the Canes play with a chip on their shoulder and make waves in the playoffs.

Bahl played 18:47 tonight. Ruff is giving him more minutes and he has been playing good. I'm pretty sure they want him in the lineup come playoff time so the increased minutes will payoff when he is probably playing a somewhat sheltered 3rd pairing role with Severson. It's nice that Smith has played a lot of games so he could be ready to jump back in the lineup if needed. Right now he is currently not needed with the way Bahl has been playing. Mercer has been awesome this year , glad he got his first hatty tonight. That Taylor Hall trade is really paying off for us. Mercer is already a top 6 player and Bahl looks to have some interesting potential if he keeps improving.

Yep. Excellent game overall. This is how they need to play in the playoffs. Keep up their trademark high-tempo, high-pressure game. But minimize the self-inflicted mistakes. If they do that, other teams simply can't keep up with them.

Vitek was great and I was really impressed with Bahl in an elevated role.

There is just no way they can break apart the Tatar-Hischier-Mercer line before game 1.

What a great game, just what we needed after getting spanked by the Jets. Great bounceback by Vitek and the defence, that might got unnoticed since the offence was so on point. Really happy for Mercer, just love everything about his game and personality. Man how much are we gonna have to pay him too, this team is getting super expensive. Nice problem to have. And also like everyone else I'm shocked how quickly Bahl has developed. I though if everything goes well he might be able to take middle pair minutes when he's 25-26 or something, but apparently he can already handle first pair assignments. He'll obviously make mistakes in the future, but we could have another shutdown gem in our hands as he's only 22. Thank you Devils!
