I'd probably put Jacques Villeneuve in the mix as well (well, he DID win a WDC), Patrick Roy and Arturo Gatti as well. I know I'd put Gatti well ahead of Cavillo.

One could argue that Jackie Robinson could go first in the grand scheme of things, but it's also a bit tough to justify putting him first when he only played one AAA season.

For some reasons I thought Jacques wasn't born in the area since he spent his childhood oversees. He definitely belongs. Roy was there, I don't know what happened. I probably deleted him by mistake.

Good call on Gatti. Never thought of him. I would probably put him around 15.

Both Jacques and Gilles are born in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, which almost certainly makes it the only Canadian city to have produced more F1 drivers than SC Winners.

The Yankees alone have at least 10 superstars so I won’t even include them.

I’ll just go by teams. I know I am missing players so feel free to edit my post.

I would think Gooden and possibly Strawberry would be ahead of DeGrom

Pavel Bure
Trevor Linden
Henrik Sedin
Daniel Sedin
Kirk McLean
Roberto Luongo
Shareef Abdur-Rahim (less because of on court success but because the Grizz are near mythical status and he was the star)
Stan Smyl
Tiger Williams

and above all of them, by far Canada's greatest athlete ever

Terry Fox

Im a Raptors fan and even I say they should bring back the Grizzlies.

Even thought I was born and raised and thus root for NY teams (other then Boston College, Chelsea FC and Bayern Munich ((long story)), it is somewhat unfair to compare cities who might have 4-5 teams to those like NY who have 11+ pro teams....) Though, in all honestly, most of NY's teams could barely be considered professional in any sense of the word.

You choose the Jets, Mets, Knicks and Islanders and, well, good luck with that.

Also, Pele played for the Cosmos- a player many consider to be the greatest athlete on the planet. Also, that team had Beckenbauer as well....

If we're only counting the big four then Toronto would be (in no order):

Alomar
J. Carter
Kawhi
VC
Lowry
Sundin
Halladay
Delgado
Bautista
Clark (?)
A bunch of old dudes from the Leafs

I may be from Toronto but I'm not a Leaf fan so I'm not as familiar with their team as a lot of my friends and colleagues would be. Even then, they're hardly had any big names in the modern era

Note: Green Bay Packers split home games between GB and Milwaukee between 1933-94.

A "reasonable" case can be made for each to be considered the greatest to ever play their respective sport:

1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
2. Hank Aaron
3. Don Hutson
4. Brett Favre

No claim to be the greatest, but most likely top 50 in their respective sport:

5. Warren Spahn
6. Eddie Matthews
7. Oscar Robertson
8. Bob Pettit
9. Bart Starr
10. Ray Nitschkie

Alternative list, not including Packers:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Hank Aaron
Warren Spahn
Eddie Matthews
Oscar Robertson
Bob Pettit
Moses Malone
Robin Yount
Paul Molitor
Rollie Fingers

Not in our top ten (but because it is a hockey website)
Top Hockey Players:

Shea Webber
Pekka Rinne

Joe Carter shouldn't be anywhere near this list

In 7 seasons in Toronto he put up an 8.5 WAR in total, and actually had a negative WAR in each of his last 3 seasons with the Blue Jays

His stats with Toronto in 1039 games are: .259 AVG, .306 OBP, .771 OPS

For comparison sake, here are Jesse Barfield's stats in 1032 games with Toronto: .265 AVG, .336 OBP, .817 OPS

Barfield's WAR with the Jays was 29.5

Jimmy Connors... stealth pick. (pun intended - but would not have thought to include him myself if I was making a STL list)

I might get slammed for some of my picks but overall it has to be mainly NHL players as the CFL isn’t on the NFL level. The players I listed were all dominant in the best league in the world. Moon simply has to be here

It doesn't matter if the CFL is like NFL. The list is a out your city's top 10 athletes and there are many Eskimos who should be on the list, instead of Oilers.

You wouldn't put Strawberry above Wright and Degrom? I would put Hernandez above both of them and I have Strawberry above Hernandez.
