I was laughed at when I said that Gelinas could be a perennial 40 point player.

lol I don't see any way he doesn't become one. His shot will most likely net him at least 10 goals a year. Once he gets 1st pp unit time he will pretty easily be able to get to 40 if he plays like he currently is.

BTW, Devils Trap, I appreciate your ENTHUSIASM but I thought we couldn't create a Post-game until the game thread reached 1000 posts?

If the rules have changed, then the next time a Devils game ends, I'll create a Post-game IMMEDIATELY. :sarcasm:

21 to 700. So do we think he will reach that milestone? YES (And NO ONE will ever touch that record, well either of his records as the shutout record is maybe even more untouchable)AGREE

Brunner had a pretty good game, seems like getting scratched for the Detroit game lit a fire under his ass.

Gelinas just continues to roll, 15 points in 26 games now (0.58 points/game) on pace for 42 points in 73 games. By comparison Krug is only on pace for 43 points in 82 games.

As a Devils fan I'm not used to this rush of young talent coming in at the same time. Pretty damn exciting

Agreed. I laugh every time I see someone upset that we lost Urbom.

Gelinas will help get more wins than Urbom did. I said it last year too before Gelinas ever even played an NHL game.

If Urbom wasn't claimed by Washington, he would have gotten the opportunity instead of Gelinas. Gelinas is much better, end of story.

The only guys I would take Urbom over who are already on our team are Harrold and Volchenkov. And Urbom probably isn't even better than them.

It's amazing how one player can go from lethargic and uninterested to supremely confident with a killer instinct in the span of a week.

Ugh. This. Is. Not. The. Point.

It's not like it came down to losing one of Gelinas or Urbom. It came down to losing one of Urbom or possibly (though not probably) Harrold. And we chose to keep Harrold. That was, is, and always will be a bad decision and poor asset management and I don't really see how anyone could argue otherwise.

IMO losing Urbom to waivers was one of the best things to happen to us. I always thought Urbom was meh, and that he would possibly prevent Gelinas from coming up first since he had the seniority.

Brodeur said he told Jagr that he let in Michalek's goal so his goal would be the game-winner and he'd pass Howe for the record.

Well if it comes down to Harrold and Urbom then I understand. The only guys I would take Urbom over are Volchenkov and Harrold. I really think we're way better off with Gelinas being up than if Urbom had that spot right now.

All in all losing Urbom to me is the same way I felt about losing Pierre Dagenais to waivers in the early 00s. Don't really care much.
