Not only did McDavid avoid him, Hyman looked him off as well.
It's because he puts himself into really poor spots. If a guy is on the wall and comes away with it.. he'll be on the side of the goal... directly behind a defender, on the far side of the post instead of right in the house / slot or in front of the D and fighting off any attempt to box him out. If he dishes off to a D in our zone, he does the same huge, useless loop in our end and he'll close up to the puck carrier on a rush, too close, and effectively shut off a lane for the rusher while also putting himself in a spot where 1 defender can essentially cover off the puck carrier AND him. Just zero hockey sense.
I've defended and hoped, but it is over. The guy is a drag on the line up, and the constant having to babysit his ego is a distraction. Drop him for a 7th rounder if you can even get that, and be done with it.
