Really seems like you want to rub it in but that's pretty much a free 3rd we got for signing a guy 6 weeks ago.

Remember when Habs fans insisted that Kovalchuk would bring back a 1st or 2nd? Shocking, he brought back exactly what a bunch of comparable players have brought back.

I do find 50% retention on a league minimum deal hilarious, though. How pressed for cap are you that you need that?

Probably would have gotten a 2nd, or at least a 3rd + B prospect if he didn't slow down the last 7 games

Great deal.
Kovy has been much more of a playmaker with Montreal. If he can keep that up he will fit well with the Caps, especially on their PP.
