All three rookie dman have been playing a great game tonight and I'm impressed with the season our defenseman have had. As stated before, may be we are too used to seeing horrible d-lines iced.

I think it is talent and great coaching. Even Jordan has looked able

Apparently there is an add for Winnepeg fans on the boards in the zone they shoot in twice. That's kinda ****ed up no? Waddell wants to up that revenue any way he can I guess.

Yawn. Much ado about nothing. That's the spot that we usually reserve for *our* ads - the Stanley Cup Decennial weekend, for instance. If the Jets fans are that bored that they're reading board ads, must be some GREAT hockey fans there. At any rate it looks like their broadcast is digitally replacing some of our ads - somebody mentioned seeing an ad for the World Juniors and uh...yeah, I see no such ad on our boards.

wonder how much the boards ads on the side of the ice that you can't see on tv go for vs. the ones you can

I think it's the same either way - I always thought that when you bought an ad you got the "mirror" side of the arena too - for instance MercuryGate gets the ad behind the goal at both ends, the Duke Energy ad is mirrored on the other side, Martin Marietta's ad is mirrored, so on and so forth. But again, I've always been more interested in the action ON the ice than the ads on the boards.

Yesterday's N&O article mentioned that the Canes have relatively few advertising partners because the Triangle is heavy on tech companies that don't advertise much. So that boards thing kind of makes sense. They hired Waddell to come up with business opportunities, so I guess that's him in action.

Fine, THH, force me to actually pay attention to board ads. Looking at th eboards here's the local companies I see (or companies with a significant presence in the Triangle):

BCBSNC
Lenovo
Quintiles
SAS
Advance Auto Parts
UNC Rex
Duke Energy
Michael & Son
FS Carolinas
NC Education Lottery
PNC Bank
Martin Marietta
MercuryGate

I'd be tempted to toss in Pepsi based on their whole "born in Carolina" thing and that they're the soft drink provider at PNC, but I'll not. So that's what then - GEICO, that Winnipeg ad, the NHL board ads, Draftops.com, and Ticketmaster that aren't companies that are local or have significant ops in the area? I think once again Luke is making crap up.
