He won 60% of his faceoffs and was averaging over two hits a game. What else are you expecting him to do as a 4th line centre in the playoffs?

If you signed him for offence or shutting down other teams top players, that’s on your coaching staff and management, not him.

Faceoffs really don't mean THAT much...not enough to endure Nate Thompson, at least

Well 7 games with a new team, then a long break, then thrown into the playoffs. I could see where he might not have fit. He was fine with the Habs. Did his job well.

People who are saying this isn't that bad doesn't know Paul Maurice. If Thompson was here to sit in the press box and play in emergency situations, fine, but he will play, and he will play in favor of younger more talented players. That's why a lot of us Jets fans don't like it, because we've watched this happen year after year.

Because he doesn’t do anything well except for taking faceoffs.
He did score 15 points on the 4th line, I don’t know what’s the average for a 4th liner but I would guess you can’t expect much more. He was using his physicality along the boards to make some plays with the habs and he can pass the puck good enough.

I mean he’s still a 4th liner but I’ll never understand the hate these guys receive.

Jets needs this kind of player. Lets face it, forward group is too soft. There is no effective and young player in jets roster who can play physical game in 4th line.

Oh great, another vet Chevy is going to give top minutes to in order to protect the ready young guns that'll turn into wasted talent...

Other than that this is a decent pick-up.

Softest team in the league imo. It's been a dramatic transition from 4 years ago. So in that sense, you're correct.

I rather have a face-offs specialist as a 4th line center than some has been star. 8 minutes per night and taking some important draws is better than enough of that dollar amount.

Seems like he will play the role Hendricks played on the Jets in his time here. Fans will probably hate him, but if he is a hard working guy that will block shots, win faceoff, score an ugly goal or two a season, I'm fine with it.

Thompson was bad on the Flyers but the problem was that Grant and Laughton were worse. They had no 3C so Thompson was over used.
If he gets his minutes on the PK, d zone draw match ups then he still stinks but doesn’t hurt the team.
