Jets fans seem happy about this, which is the most important thing.

But I'd be a bit concerned about his durability, or lack thereof, across a 6-year deal.

What gives me comfort is he's in great shape, motivated to have good longevity (his own words) and all of his injuries have been just kind of freaky injuries. He doesn't have that one thing that's consistently bothering him (say, multiple concussions, bad back, knee etc). It's just been kind of all over the place and in the big picture they've been relatively small stuff.

Of course you never know what's going to happen, but considering how important Little is to the Jets now and projected to be moving forward, i feel like it would be dumb to say we're going to look somewhere else and at worse options just because he's been injury prone.

I think it's because of this:
2008-09 79/82 (0.65)
2009-10 79/82 (0.43)
2010-11 76/82 (0.63)
2011-12 74/82 (0.62)
2012-13 48/48 (0.67)
2013-14 82/82 (0.71)
2014-15 70/82 (0.74)
2015-16 57/82 (0.74)- broken vertebra in his neck due to "odd" hit
2016-17 59/82 (0.80)- knee on knee hit

Not wear and tear types of issues. Arguably both were dirty hits that took him out for an extended period of time. The rest of the time he's showed above average durability. His style of game isn't a pounding game that lends itself to the types of injuries that wear players down.

Numbers in brackets are ppg.

Invariably there is risk involved in signing any 29/30 year old to a multi-year deal. But proportionally for production versus cap hit this deal is a win. So long as Little can avoid getting run down by illegal hits there's actually little to indicate he's not relatively (70+ games/season) durable.

In all fairness to bickell that was not a dirty hit at all . They just turned into each other.

He's only averaged 62 games played over the last 3 years (75.6%).

0.756 times $7 million= $5.29 million.

Coincidence? I think not!

No discount here.

If you looked at all his season before that he is averaging 78 games per season so your narrative is full of crap. Up until 2 season ago he had a great record of being a player that was virtually injury free. At 5.29m per year he is a great value.

love the player bur risky with a 30+ guy and a ton of RFA coming up. Plus Wheeler.

Jets had to do this, but things will be tight in two years.

If you didn't sign Little, who plays 2C for the Jets? It would cost them a lot more to get a comparable replacement.

I think this is money well spent with a home town discount.

At 5.29M I don't see the risks like you see them.

It's a pretty awesome cap hit for what he brings to the table and so so damm difficult to replace, especially cheaper.
