Nyquist is a prolific scoring winger who recently emerged with the Detroit Redwings and who sports an attractively low salary. In fact his production vs value ratio is about on par with Carl Soderberg.

So Question 1 is, if you are Chia, would you be willing to offer a rich trade package to land Nyquist.

Question 2 is, what are you willing to give up to get it done?

Caveat as discussed in the Morrow thread - Krug for Nyquist is unrealistic and not going to happen. So let's focus on other trade packages that could actually interest the Wings.

Put on your thinking caps armchair GMs - what trade package could land us Nyquist?
28 goals 20 assists, 48 points, in 57 games played, Age 24, 5'10, 185 lbs, #121 pick from the 2008 draft.

Just thinking of the coincidence in salary, but would Soderberg be a player who interests Detroit?

What about a trade package of Soderberg, Knight, Bartkowski, and a draft pick? Too rich, or too little? I'll put up the poll to see if the majority of Bruins fans even feel if we should make an offer.

first of all, why is the Krug for Nyquist trade unrealistic? You're saying that as if it's fact, but that is far from consensus.

Second of all, why would the red wings want to trade him?

third, why the hell didn't you just keep discussing this in the other thread which already started with the premise of trading for Nyquist?

Wouldn't trade Soderberg for him. Nor Krug. He's staying put in Detroit, there's no way they trade him anyway. Their two franchise stars Datsyuk and Zetterberg are aging, he'll probably be the face of the franchise at some point.

Because we are looking for proposals that are realistic, besides the one that has already been beaten to death of Krug for Nyquist. And because the title of the other thread is misleading and has little to nothing to do with Joe Morrow.

you wouldn't trade 28 year old Soderberg for 24 year old Nyquist?

the notion that Detroit has any interest in trading Nyquist is fundamentally unrealistic.

Detroit searching for Right-handed Defenseman:
http://mynhltraderumors.com/tag/gustav-nyquist/

"As the Red Wings continue to look for a right-handed defenseman, they could look at Sabres Tyler Myers. He carries a $5.5 million salary cap hit. The asking price for Myers would start with one of Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar or Tomas Jurco. The Sabres might ask for Anthony Mantha, but he’s not going anywhere. The Red Wings would also likely need to add a high draft pick and potentially another player."

Could Boston deal from their defenseman surplus and acquire the RW depth that they need from Detroit?

Yes, a deal could materialize with what the Bruins have. But I like Toma Jurco better because he has size and acclimatized to the North American style of play. But, the real question is, does Peter Chiarelli want to make a trade with a divisional rival?
