Smith has been bad, and while Varly has been excellent the Flames are a pretty deep offense team.

We seem to always start games slow against the Flames. Might be wrong, but feels like we always give them 2 goals right away in the 1st period. Need to come out strong.

Hello everyone! A long-time Avs fan/follower here, who is back watching Avs hockey after a couple of years. Also thought to take part in the conversation here, as I've been more like a lurker on these boards for many years now.

I just finished watching the first four games and so far I really like what I'm seeing. My wishlist for tonight's game:

1) The second line maintains its strength in all three zones
2) The first line generates more cycle in the o-zone, instead of finishing their attacks directly after entering the zone.
3) Zadorov improves on his breakout play

And yeah, Varly has looked great! Let's goo!

I thought he was solid the team was atrocious in front of him. He made some great saves and was hung out to dry otherwise.

I wouldn't mind Grubauer, but you gotta stick with Varly when he's hot. It wouldn't send a great message if they put Grubauer in tonight.

Grubauer is less of a "tandem" signing and more of an insurance move.
