Since Finland won in the shootout, and I'm assuming Germany doesn't get a point against Canada, does that mean Latia is in the relegation game?

Four of five in each group go to the quarterfinals and the fifth one plays relegation. So unless Germany gets at least one point against Canada (would be shocking) they’re out and Latvia is in the quarters (against USA).

I could see Alscher in Charlotte next year.
He is basically a grown man, defensive defenseman specialist. I really don't see him gaining anything by staying next year in the WHL.
I don't see his offensive game developing anymore than it is, and thats OK.

Czech just scored to break the 2-all tie with 6 lefy. The captain Kulick scored to set a new Czech record with 13 goals all time. He is draft eligible this year. Compared to Marcus Naslund.

Kulich was drafted by Buffalo in the first round with the Reinhart pick

Latvia was eliminated by the US today 7-2. Vilmanis had a PPA, Finishing the tournament with 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 games.
Today he also hit the post and played decoy on a 2 on 1 goal.

He will now go back to Sarnia, where he looks to continue his strong season.
I would not be surprised at all to see him in Charlotte next season.

I have not watched the Canadian game, But I recorded and will do so.
I will just be Preoccupied right now counting my winnings as I bet on Czech in the spread.
Bad Canadian, bad!

I thought he was already a Sabre.

Alscher was on the ice for Sweden's goal today.
He had nothing to do with the play. Czech goalie just whiffed on the puck and let a pretty fluffy goal in.

1-1 1st INT

Czech Lost 5-2 and will play in the bronze medal game tomorrow against the loser of US and Finland.

Alscher was just named one of the 3 top players for Czech in the tournament.

His offensive instinct and skating were better than I expected.
Like mentioned before, I fully expect him on Charlotte next season.

I'll put a bow on this and wrap this up:

Considering Florida only had 2 prospects in this tournament, I thought they did a great job. Both Alscher and Vilmanis were top players on their team (Alscher was voted one of the 3 top players on the Czech team, and I'm assuming Vilmanis was on the Latvia team as he was second in team scoring, but the feed cut out by the time they announced players of the game.)
Alscher captured the bronze medal and was one of the top players for his team.
Vilmanis was second on his team in scoring (one assist from being tied for the lead) on a Latvia team that wasn't very deep in scoring and had trouble keeping the puck out of their net, despite making the quarter finals for the second time ever.

I would give this tournament a 5/7 for the Panthers (Baseball scouts rate everything out of 7, it's a lot more even that way.) Ideally, a team would want 3 prospects in this tournament. Both the Panthers prospects met or exceeded expectations, and one medaled.

Next season, I would expect the Panthers to have 2 or 3 prospects in this tournament.
Gracyn Sawchyn (rd 2, '23) by the way this season is going, I would expect him to make team Canada next year. Canada was a younger team this year, so they will have a lot of returning players, but despite this, I still expect him to crack the lineup.

Team Sweden was an older team this year, so they will have a few opportunities available.
Sweden will only have one goalie eligible to return, so I expect Olof Glifford (rd 5, '23) to be given a real shot to make this team and possibly start games. He is putting up good numbers this season with Sweden's national junior team.
With the only half the defense on team Sweden returning, I would think Albert Wikman (rd 4, '23) will get a shot to make the team. He has put up really good numbers this year in Sweden's junior league, even earning him a promotion to the top league in Sweden (SHL).

Florida could draft someone this summer who would make one of the teams, but I wouldn't hold my breath about that.

He was, according to the Czech hockey site.
