I'll put a bow on this and wrap this up:
Considering Florida only had 2 prospects in this tournament, I thought they did a great job. Both Alscher and Vilmanis were top players on their team (Alscher was voted one of the 3 top players on the Czech team, and I'm assuming Vilmanis was on the Latvia team as he was second in team scoring, but the feed cut out by the time they announced players of the game.)
Alscher captured the bronze medal and was one of the top players for his team.
Vilmanis was second on his team in scoring (one assist from being tied for the lead) on a Latvia team that wasn't very deep in scoring and had trouble keeping the puck out of their net, despite making the quarter finals for the second time ever.
I would give this tournament a 5/7 for the Panthers (Baseball scouts rate everything out of 7, it's a lot more even that way.) Ideally, a team would want 3 prospects in this tournament. Both the Panthers prospects met or exceeded expectations, and one medaled.
Next season, I would expect the Panthers to have 2 or 3 prospects in this tournament.
Gracyn Sawchyn (rd 2, '23) by the way this season is going, I would expect him to make team Canada next year. Canada was a younger team this year, so they will have a lot of returning players, but despite this, I still expect him to crack the lineup.
Team Sweden was an older team this year, so they will have a few opportunities available.
Sweden will only have one goalie eligible to return, so I expect Olof Glifford (rd 5, '23) to be given a real shot to make this team and possibly start games. He is putting up good numbers this season with Sweden's national junior team.
With the only half the defense on team Sweden returning, I would think Albert Wikman (rd 4, '23) will get a shot to make the team. He has put up really good numbers this year in Sweden's junior league, even earning him a promotion to the top league in Sweden (SHL).
Florida could draft someone this summer who would make one of the teams, but I wouldn't hold my breath about that.
