I was at that game; Otto K. had a very nice game. He played in pretty much every situation and was very prominent in running the PP. From what I saw he plays with great poise and sees the ice well. Finland, as a whole, looked like a well oiled machine. It seemed pretty evident the coaching staff is willing to make him a key component on a very good national team.

If any of you have the chance, this event is great to attend. If you're into the hockey celebrity thing, we saw Larkin, Draper, Kenny, Babs, Pronger, Ken Daniels and Lou Lammy in the 2 games we went to. Aside from that, you'll be watching a couple dozen 1st round draft picks play some pretty intense hockey in the dead of summer.

Broberg had a really good opening period. Surprised by how strong Honka is playing, he wasn't particularly good last year and his brother hasn't set the world on fire. But I really liked most of his first, good vision and sharp hard passes. I remember being pretty underwhelmed last year, good step forward the Canes have had a lot of luck with Finnish players and that might just continue.

As always only one game but those two guys stood out on the back-end for me there.

Caufield's goal was pretty absurd. I mean I was worried about taking him super early not going to lie, but it looks like he is going to be able to score in bunches anywhere. Anytime I watch a game with him in it he scores a goal, impressive player.

i always hope that they would put the rosters , names n numbers , on both sides of screen in these games and keep them there all game to make it easier to id everybody . also , i like looks of dach . so big and rugged with hands that he can barge through players while holding onto puck right to the net

Officiating kind of ruined the game. Plymouth refs gonna make their team happy I guess.
Veleno scored, but I didn't see him drive the play as much as I hoped he would.
Canada didn't look so hot after their top six.

I know it's August and both teams have guys sitting every game, but that Canadian team was kind of painful to watch at times. Would have been nice to see Krebs, Cozens, Hayton and Dellandrea.

Of the games I was at, Caulfield and Zegras were easily the most impressive players on the U.S. roster. Caufield is not a one trick pony. He's positionally sound, he can dish the puck well and he's a genius at drawing penalties. I haven't seen many players at any level with such an arsenal of shots. Woo!

Opposite opinion here. Zegras and Caufield were 2 guys that stood out to me as guys with the most apparent ceilings.

Zegras is a bit behind the play, and Caufield wastes a bunch of possessions with poor vision/positioning.

Can't wait to see how Veleno looks in the preseason. Love how he slows things down in the o-zone. Bodes well for Cholowski and Seider.

I'm not really sure which Caufield you were watching then. Everytime he was on the ice it was obvious his linemates were trying to dish to him. Yet, he still generated a buttload of quality scoring chances. Shots don't come without good positioning. I didn't see the final overall stats, but I'm pretty sure he was near the top in scoring.

As for the vision, I didn't see too many errant passes. And no one from any of the teams had a shot close to his.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted nothing to do with Caufield at the draft, but seeing him live made me a believer.

I thought Caufield was exceptional and most of what he was doing is translatable. He was doing it against other gifted first round types and still finding ways to be the Caufield we know, getting lost in coverage and mercilessly punishing the other teams mistakes.

Zegras is still trying stuff that I don't think is going to work in the pros. I get that he has great anticipation and he tries stuff other guys don't. Reminds me a ton of Drouin still, we will see both guys are talented but some outlandish stuff just doesn't work at the NHL level unless you are like Kucherov or Datsyuk. You have to have a pretty rare skillset even among the greatest talents in the game to do that. We will see, if he hits his ceiling is phenomenal, I just don't see him hitting is all.

He seems like a legit goal scoring prospect. But there are a lot of goal scorers that I find overrated in relation to their overall impact, and at this point Caufield has all those markings. Definitely dont have an issue with his positioning as a receiver in the ozone though.

But the amount of times he has the puck in space and sends it aimlessly behind the net, or skates into a dead end on the boards is concerning. And the lack of set ups and give and go's is a resulting or corroborating factor thus far.

Compared to some of the d men and blue chip forwards in the tournament, I think caufield is a significantly less valuable commodity, even if he is one of the most sure fire 20+ goal guys. The list of DRW F prospects that I wouldnt trade for him is fairly long.

Nothing wrong with seeing the guy and saying he knows what he does well and does it well and has plenty of time to improve though. I just personally have my chips on "specialist tweener at best" until I see more.
