Thanks for posting the schedule! The NHL Network usually carries all of the games except for the exhibition ones. I try to see most of Canada's games during the round robin and then watch every matchup in the medal rounds. It's a lot of hockey in a short time but its a great tournament for seeing the top prospects.

I've been loving them too, although I think Canada's won the last three NYE showdowns - so I guess we've been remembering our nights :sarcasm:

Does anyone know what other programs will show the WJC? What about Eurosport or ESPN America? I remember Eurosport showing it last year...

SLovak STV3 will show all Slovakia games and probably bronze/gold medal games, they should have an online stream available. I believe the same goes for Sweden´s SVT with Team Sweden.

Does anyone know which games Pierre McGuire will be doing color for?

I plan on tracking all of the drinks required by the drinking game.

WJC Television Coverage

Since questions typically pop up in multiple places about this I thought it would be helpful to have a thread about TV coverage for posters in different countries trying to view the WJC Tourney.

Television coverage in the US:

NHL Network will televise all of USA's games in HD. Also: "The network also will televise six other preliminary-round games, as well as all medal round games. For non-U.S. games, the network will utilize the TSN broadcast."
link and link

The 6 non-USA preliminary games scheduled to be shown *eastern time shown:

12/26 Latvia vs. Canada 4:00 pm
12/26 Czech Republic vs. Sweden 6:00 pm
12/27 Czech Republic vs. Finland 6:00 pm
12/28 Canada vs. Switzerland 4:00 pm
12/29 Sweden vs Russia 6:00 pm
12/29 Canada vs. Slovakia 8:00 pm

"Gary Thorne, Dave Starman and Fred Pletsch will make up the broadcast team for the NHL Network’s coverage of Team USA’s games"

Please add info. for other countries, thanks.

note: the press release had some of the games listed incorrectly, the schedule was updated to reflect corrections

The broadcast Schedule in Sweden (that i have found).

All times are CET (UTC+1)

26/12 - Czech Republic - Sweden, 20:00 (SVT24)
27/12 - Austria - Sweden, 20:00 (SVT24)
29/12 - Sweden - Russia, 00:00 (SVT24)
31/12 - Sweden - Finland, 20:00 (SVT24)

After that it gets iffy. Semifinal 1 (3/1 - Semifinal 1, 23:00 (SVT24)) shows up if you search for it on svt.se but i'm sure it's just a placeholder. The Final is set though

5/1 - WJC Final, 02:00 (SVT1, SVT HD)

Does anyone know if Rogers will be broadcasting the other games on their local channels again this year?

I doubt it very much the reason it was done last year is it was in ontario and all games were in ottawa.

Going to be an exciting tournament. Can't wait for Team Canada vs Team USA. Hopefully it's as great as battle as it was last year, and last years was a GREAT game.

Great news. Thanks for posting. A little disappointed that Canada isn't playing Russia, Sweden or Finland in prelims. Hope it doesn't backfire on them by having too soft a schedule leading up to medal round.

It didn't last year as they faced the US, Kazakhstan, Germany and Czech Republic beating them by a combined score of 35-6.

On a different topic:
Who's the other broadcast pair for TSN? I'm guessing it's Dave Randorf and Dave Reid, but can anyone confirm?

I hate NHL Network Canada....Can't believe that in a time like this, they are not going to take the US schedule instead of the crappy Canadian one...
