Drafted in the first round, eighth overall in the 2019 QMJHL Draft, Nathan Gaucher has just completed his third year in the QMJHL. An alternate captain for the Quebec Remparts, he put up 31 goals and 26 assists for 57 points in 66 games this year. He also added three goals and six assists for nine points in 12 playoff games. Gaucher helped the Remparts defeat Shawinigan and Rimouski to reach the final four, before falling three games to two to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

Big strong C/W with good size and skating. Probably no better then a 3rd line guy not much talent or vision. Not a terrible pick but would have taken kulich or Lambert

He seems like a character guy. I know all of you were hoping for a riskier pick, but Verbeek's philosophy seems to be to build a complete team. And you need those hard-working 3rd/4th line types, and especially PK specialists. This guy fits the bill, and is a captain of his team to boot. He could well be a bigger asset than most of us realise at this point.

Black Book seems to see him as a winger, and there's a few scout quotes saying similar. I'm a little disappointed with Yurov and Lambert there, but in Madden we trust and role players are important even if they're not sexy draft picks.

I knew that there would be people pissing and moaning about the team passing Lambert. Maybe, just maybe, professional scouts know more than people over analyzing YouTube and game statistics

I know they can’t all be sexy picks but is 22 really the time to take a solid role guy? Especially when you have 2 2nds, I just don’t really get it

Pronman’s thoughts:
Thoughts on the pick: Gaucher is an excellent two-way center with size, skill and compete who is easy to imagine in an NHL lineup. Yes, the Ducks have Trevor Zegras and Mason McTavish, but for me this was too much player to pass up at 22. He gives the Ducks tremendous young center depth, and options in how to deploy their players.
