Bombers had to cancel practice today due to air quality.

The reason the Bombers had to cut down yesterday was to get to 75 + non counters (draft picks and the like). Several teams around the league cut down. I scoured the list of cuts but no names really stood out to me yesterday. It seems this was mainly the "rookie camp" level of cuts.

One reporter (can't remember which) tweeted the other day that the Bombers were likely going to retain the rights to around 65ish player (depends on injuries, etc), so they are getting closer down to players they will retain (I think they have around 10 non counters, so about 20 more to go, likely mostly in WR and DB positions). I am still working on finding the exact roster rules for this year, but what I've been able to put together I think it looks like this for roster
2 QB
20 American
21 National
1 Global
Total Roster has been reduced from 46 (45 active + 1 Scratch) to 44 (44 active). It appears teams only need to carry 43, but I'm not sure where they'd drop that extra spot. It appears the starting rules (minimum 7 National Starters) remains in place.

On the PR I think they still have 3 Global spots + I saw somewhere that as long as the border was closed they'd get an extra 5 PR spots (so 15 instead of normal 10). So you'd be looking at 18 potential PR spots. However with the US border re-opening on Aug 9, not sure if that will remain in place. I can't find any good info, we'll likely have to wait for the season to start to see how it all breaks down.

That’s an unfortunate name.

I was a big fan of it when he played for Sask, particularly after a few drinks i found it hilarious when sask brought out crapper, or "here he comes to crap the bed".

My thinking is that its still Liegghio jobs to lose to be honest, but well see. And while i thinj Liegghio is a dual kicker/punter, Crapper is just a kicker. But dont quote me on that last sentence.

Tyler Crapigna better not be crap or crap all over the place, last thing we need is a crap kicker!

The Bombers might go with 2 foot men. One focusing on punting, the other on kicking, thus taking pressure off Leggs' and developing him in a more controlled setting...

So we only need to have Crap' half the time...

If you give a crap that is...

Lots of good reports about Liegghio's punting from todays practice currently on going. So it could be 2 guys, both are nationals. Crapigna is no superstar, it could be just to push Liegghio in camp and he still emerges as the guy. Besides if both dont work out, kickers arent that hard to find, we could just get one of our security guards to take over like Ottawa did ;)

Injuries in camp are the worst, hope it's nothing

They've said ots more "short term" than long term. And he was at practice today not in a sling or cast. But they haven't committed to comment that he would be ready by Aug 5. So we'll see.

One name I, and I think of fans, have been watching for is Cam Meredith. Good story from his signing back on July 1 when he was brought on. Apparently Meredith's wife is from Wpg and hes been living here even before signing. He first made contact with Bombers AGM Danny McManus back when he was coming off a nearly 900 yard season in CHI and he was on a big contract in NO. Saw McManus' Bomber logo on the sidelines of camp and struck up a convo since hes wife was from Wpg.
However he has not participated in practice in the past 10 days and camp is just 12 days old. He has an extensive injury history from NFL. So we'll see. Even minus Lucky Whitehead (who is tearing up Lions camp apparently) its crowded at WR so we'll see if he will be able to find a role.

Note: As with the rest of the public I haven't seen any of TC. I am just going on what I've heard from reporters from TC.
My biggest decisions with this was dropping DL Dheilly and RB Borsa. I think somehow both are going to be on the roster, particularly Dheilly as he has been tearing up camp. Injuries are unpredictable and I expect another 3-5 IR players beyond what I've mentioned. And Meredith and Augustine might be ready for the season hard to say. I haven't heard a thing about Nelson, I feel like he's a prime candidate to be dropped if Grant solidifies himself in the return game. And for all players since I'm a fan I have no idea which players would accept PR assignments.

Feel free to roast me royally for this. However, like I've said I don't know rookies, I don't watch college football. I'm just basing on reports and resumes.

Lowes and Dean surprise me. But lots of trimming to be done.

Grant all day. Game changer

Lowes was hurt. They like him. Expected back

Its still an odd decision though about Lowes. I get that they have TC numbers to get down to, but itd make more sense to keep him down closer to the end of camp when they could then move him to IR and never risk him being a UFA. They are still carrying 17WR and 19DB, theres likely a few guys there they already know wont be here in 10 days. Im not very concerned obviously just intrigued by it.

Still at 80 players. Likely 5-12 more players looking at outright releases this weekend, them there will be the IR/PR manoevers.

That's 53 players. They will need to be down to 44 for Thursday's game. The roster breaks down as 20 National, 20 American, 2 QB, 1 Global. Bombers currently have 23 nationals, 26 Americans, 2 QB, 2 Global. You'll notice that's only 43 not 44. Teams are allowed carry 43 or 44, spot 44 must be a national OR Global. So expect Hansen and Maruo to be active.

Notable I'm sure DB Mercy Maston is gone for the year, so there's one American already that will head to IR. WR Charles Nelson, WR Rasheed Bailey, RB Andrew Harris, WR Darvin Adams are just some of the names that have been hurt recently among others.

From Bombers website.
The following players have been placed on the practice roster:
National defensive lineman Nick Dheilly
National offensive lineman Chris Kolankowski
National linebacker Nakas Onyeka
National receiver Brendan O’Leary Orange
American defensive lineman Ricky Walker
American defensive back David Rivers
American offensive lineman Drew Richmond
American quarterback Dru Brown
American receiver Cam Meredith
American receiver Carlton Agudosi
Global offensive lineman Tomoya Machino
Global defensive back Sergio Schiaffino-Perez
The following players have been placed on the CFL practice roster:
American offensive lineman Tyler Johnson
American defensive lineman Ezekiel Rose
American defensive back Demerio Houston
American running back Devonte Williams
Global linebacker Ayo Oyelola

For those curious the CFL PR's are standard at 10. However the new global push means that global players up to 3 don't count towards the 10 on the PR. In the CFL the PR's are "protected" where teams can block another team from signing from their PR. However the "CFL Practice Roster" is new for just the pandemic. It's required to be filled by teams (with certain restrictions) and anyone can sign anyone of any of them at any time. There's more rules regarding it but they aren't super important (about reclaims/future rights/etc).

The following players have been released from the roster:
National running back Kyle Borsa (returning to school)
American defensive back Jamalcolm Liggins
American defensive back Terrence Alexander
American defensive lineman Cedric Wilcots
American receiver Deontez Alexander
American receiver Blake Jackson
American receiver Davon Grayson
American receiver Montay Crockett
American defensive back Mazzi Wilkins
American defensive back Jeremiah Johnson

I'm suprised they were able to release Blake Jackson considering he had a season ending injury in camp, would have thought they would have to IR him for the year. Also notable here is the Bombers will retain rights to Borsa this year as he returns to school (this is standard).
