I got curious just now...

Over the last 20 years, the teams who have won Coach of the Year:

Ottawa x3
SSM x3
OS x2
Erie x2
Osh
Plymouth x2
Saginaw
London x3
Windsor x2
Guelph

Half of the teams in the league haven't won it in the last 20 years and some haven't won in the last 30.

Honestly i think Wellwood should have won it for what he was getting done in Flint after he took over a team that had a brutal start last year and probably would have had a 50 point improvement this year.
I read somewhere that Wellwood could be a consideration for the assistant coaching position in Toronto. Too early?

Too early for the franchise but maybe not Wellwood. The Firebirds could use Welly for another couple of seasons; keep them building upwards. Welly has a handful of years under his belt, both as an assistant and head coach, which is similar to what McFarland had before going to Florida. It's not unheard of.
