The Good -

Gus filling a lane and then jumping in to eat some Watson fists for a teammate.
Skinner's goal as a result of Power playmaking artistry.
Dahlin with some quality small area plays that stood out to me, particularly in his own zone. Sealed the wall, touch on passing in-zone to soft areas that only his teammates could get to
Levi was on.
Signs of life from the first line with some shots and a bit of pressure.
Third period Krebs.
Cozens needed that.

The Bad -

The randomness that is NHL officiating.
Late GTG against yet again. We've seen this before from Buffalo and Tampa.
Two pipe hits.

The Ugly -

The missed tackle on Dahlin by Cirelli in the corner being laughed about by the ESPN broadcast. C'mon guys, that was crap.
Sammy hurt. Again.

Wonder if the Sammy injury means we’ll see RyJo sooner rather than later. Or if they’ll (shudder) put Bryson in. Being realistic, they’ll use Bryson, Stillman and Clague before Ryan gets his shot.

I noticed him talking to Cozens in the post-win scrum. He was telling him to settle down on the bench too. Good to have a voice in the room with that ring.

I think it depends on how long Sammy is out. If it's a day-to-day thing, they probably play Bryson, maybe call up Stillman/Clague to sit in the press box. If it's a longer term thing, then I could see Johnson getting the call.

I would say Greenway was also good *again* with how he PKs and more. He's a new man out there and it's a contribution they need.

Good complete game, it's not a Sabres game without a butt clenching at the end. Mittelstadt looks so good and Greenway addition has been monumental. Thompson line was definitely better this game, still trying to be too cute with the puck though, just keep it simple man.

Dahlin was amazing, always in control, dominant in the defensive zone and confident moving the puck offensively.

- Coaches trying some sort of defensive structure the last 5 minutes. Sabres were hanging back and clogging everything up. Not the result we had hoped for, but I’m glad they are at least trying something. I hope they continue to tweak and find some sort of defensive structure that works with this group.

I don't really have a GBU because I didn't get home until the third.

I will say some goods are:

1) Extended tax season ended October 16th and I actually got some sleep for the first time in 6 weeks and had the energy to stay awake and see the third and OT, and to see the Sabres first win of the year! Also, just getting to see the game on ESPN.

2) I like the Krebs guy and also like that the team did well in the dot tonight.

3) The Cozens goal in OT was sweet, though it was a shame that they gave up the last minute goal in regulations

4) I actually like PK on ESPN.

I’m sorry but we still need a goalie. That game tying goal was horribly played by Levi. It’s not Levi’s fault, he should not be in this situation, but a team with real aspirations needs a goalie that can lock it down, and that was the opposite of it.

Mittelstadt is looking more and more "core" every day. If only he had more speed he would be truly first line quality because everything else he does so well.

I thought overall the team looked quite competent defensively today. As mentioned above Dahlin and Johnson looked particularly steady.

I'll add that I thought Power had a strong game.

But yes I'm still waiting for our offense to really break out.
