Yeah but the Preds might get .920 save percentage. The Jets wont. Steve Mason is no upgrade, and honestly 1/2 the Jets issue with "goaltending" was just shoddy defensive coverage which they've been plagued with for years.

Look at Mason's last 4 seasons stats and compare that to Hutch's 2016-17 performance. It is of course a huge upgrade and gives the Jets two guys to push each other. For the most part he played behind a mess of a situation in Philly (quoting Flyers fans) and still had some really good seasons.

Anything could happen but on paper there's a bunch of things that can contribute to the Jets making the playoffs. Only a couple of those things have to happen to swing the tide.

The Jets need a good start to the season and can't repeat the no 3 game win streak curse again.
