VGK super fan (and WSOP star) Daniel Negreanu has created a twitter account documenting his (daily) NHL bets and results. And including some betting hints/tips.

oops

Late Wednesday, the state Lottery announced that Twin River had received $6.5 million in Super Bowl-related bets, but nearly 77 percent of bets against the spread were on the winning New England Patriots. That contributed to the $2.4-million loss, of which the state’s hit was $1.2 million.

$2.4M Super Bowl loss in the rear-view mirror, R.I. lawmakers want to take sports gambling mobile

Something similar happened in NJ. The problem is they never moved the points based on the betting. If they moved it to Rams 3 or 3.5 you would have gotten more play there but it just sat there at 2 and 2.5.

Rumor has it the Capitals arena will soon have a sportsbook

https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...sportsbook-replace-it/?utm_term=.da5f036317f9

There’s speculation that at least part of the space occupied by the Greene Turtle will be used for a sportsbook. The D.C. Council legalized sports betting in the District in December and granted four arena and stadium operators, including Monumental Sports and Entertainment CEO Ted Leonsis, the option to open Las Vegas-style sportsbooks on site. Leonsis has talked openly about his desire to make Capital One Arena a destination for legalized gambling, and not only during games.

What's now interesting are the talks hearing up of single game betting in Canada.

The NHLs (and other leagues' stance) has been they opposed gambling and fought for it to be illegal but now accept the new status quo as it's the law and their lobbying didnt work

Do you now lobby against single game betting in Canada still as I've still heard Gary say the NHLs position is they didnt like the American ruling.

I hate sportsselect.

I know I would do more if I could bet single games.

They lobbied against back then but now that it is legal NHL is fully embracing related business opportunities.

They didn't just lobby against, they (along with the other leagues) were active participants in the lawsuit vs. NJ. Their current position is hypocritical, but like most businesses, they'll side with what they once thought was the devil if they can make a buck.

Rhode Island has been a disaster so far for sports betting

Rhode Island sportsbooks took massive hit when Patriots won Super Bowl LIII | Boston.com

When the Patriots won the Super Bowl again — and covered the spread, too — all of New England was delirious, with the possible exception of Rhode Island’s tax collectors.

The state’s sportsbooks lost $2.35 million because, come on, really, who’s going to bet against Tom Brady in New England? That, in turn, cut into Rhode Island’s tax revenue.

Rhode Island, the only place in New England with legal sports betting, had expected to generate more than $1 million a month for its state budget through its 51 percent tax on sportsbook proceeds. The actual revenue? About $50,000 a month from the late-November launch through February, which included the Super Bowl.

‘‘The Super Bowl did hurt us tremendously,’’ said state Rep. William O’Brien, who put $100 on the Patriots and won $100. ‘‘But it made me very happy. I love the New England Patriots.’’

Gov. Gina Raimondo said the state might have to adjust its budget to account for the missed projections. Still, she is urging patience: ‘‘We knew it was going to be very up and down. That is not at all a surprise.’’

this may all be moot as the Wire Act is still in play and the feds have said it will be enforced starting June.

The interpretation they are using is any wagers over state lines are illegal. Possibly including powerball and mega millions

The landscape has changed in 25 years. Today most of your major Vegas casinos have locations across the country. Many of them have built 'racebooks' that focus on horse racing but can easily be made into a sportsbook.

After living in Vegas for nearly 2 years, I can say "major Vegas Casinos" as a term is a bit of a misnomer. There are a handful of major corporations that operate casinos in Las Vegas. They include MGM, Caesars, Station, Wynn, Boyd, etc. And a bunch of more independent casinos (operating downtown LV and on the Strip), including Virgin (recently purchased the Hard Rock Hotel), SLS, The Strat (recently renamed from the Stratosphere), TI (Treasure Island), Polo, Cosmopolitan, Aria, etc.

Boyd: Aliante (NLV), Orleans (NS), Gold Coast (NS), Sun Coast, Sam's Town, Eastside Cannery, Cannery (NLV), California (DT), Fremont (DT), Main Street (DT)
Caesars: Caesars Palace (ST), Cromwell (ST), Linq (ST), Planet Hollywood (ST), Bally's (DT), Rio (NS), Paris (ST), Harrah's (ST), Nobu (ST), Flamingo (ST)
MGM: T-Mobile Arena (ST), Park Theatre (ST), Aria (ST), Bellagio (ST), Circus Circus (ST), Delano (ST), Excalibur (ST), Luxor (ST), Mandalay Bay (ST), MGM: Grand (ST), Mirage (ST), Park MGM (ST; formerly Monte Carlo), New York-New York (ST), Signature at MGM Grand (NS), Vdara (ST)
Sands: Palazzo (ST), Venetian (ST)
Station: Boulder, Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho, Green Valley Ranch, Palace (NS), Palms (NS), Red Rock (Summerlin), Santa Fe (NW), Sunset (H), Texas (NW)
Wynn: Encore (ST), Wynn (ST)

Some of these organizations have operations elsewhere in the US and/or internationally.

Wonder how legalization of sports gambling would affect Vegas economy.

Doesn't seem to be impacting Las Vegas that much, if at all. LV has been marketing itself as the entertainment capital, less emphasis on gambling, more family friendly (mayor and city are also trying to get into medical stuff, not only cutting edge technology, but also a possible place where folks can come for their medical procedures). Lots of convention business. EDC was this past weekend and had hundreds of thousands (150k+) in attendance. Many major musical groups either come for a residency and/or make LV a tour stop.
