Or you could do more than just add Mike Green in the last 5 years.

Like Dekeyser? Like Quincey?

The team plays 6 and in the last 5 years added Green as a UFA, Quincey via trade and Dekeyser via undrafted signing. Kindl and Smith both have gotten a ton of time, and largely failed. Holland went totally balls to the wall to sign Suter, and missed out on a similar deal that had Parise stapled to it as well.

If Kindl or Smith were any good, as in a steady 3-4 guy good, I almost think this isn't an issue. But... they aren't. Oh well. Happens that way sometimes. Both of those #1's stalling out created a gap in the pipeline at the position, so we get a cobbled together blueline while we hope Sarrijarvi, Russo and Cholowski hustle along the process.

The forwards and defense are 2 completely different stories.

Well, yeah. Are you saying the team should have goaltender, forward and defense all figured out and staffed, all at the same time? Yeah, that'd be nice... but not a terribly fair expectation.

Right now the team has a deep stable of forwards with some questions at the tippity top, goaltending locked down, and the defense in flux. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
