Hahaha okay! That won't happen. The problem is he can also be -12 in 2 games. He's been so bad this year, at this point he's a liability to the team.

i'd almost bet next game he will be a plus 2 or 3 (provided the team doesn't play like crap)

Given the way we have been playing and the way Detroit has been playing it would take a miracle for that to occur.

maybe. but karl knows he was bad and as the captain knows he has to be better and i foresee him coming out with extra jump.

Whats wrong with the +- stat. Really the game is about goals for and against. If you are on for more even strength goals than against then what is wrong with this indicator. How is it any worse than corsi or fenwick? Both are on team on-ice ice stats. Corsi will seldom be positive for defensive specialist players. Does this mean they are no good? It simply indicates that they spend more time in the defensive zones often against the other teams top players. If they have a crappy corsi and a good+_ then they are fulfilling their role.

Karlsson needs to adjust to this then. You will be very hard pressed to ever find a player that is going to take that kind of pressure off of Karlsson on the left side of defence. He needs to use the forwards, the goalie and his partner and learn to play smarter. He seems to be having a hard time adjusting to this, but the reality is that with his talent and offensive ability every team is going to load up on him whenever they can -- they do the same thing with Crosby, and Malkin, and whoever else when they're on the ice.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Karlsson "needs to adjust"??? So Karlsson can play better if only he adjusts to the fact that his LD partner is without skill and without the ability to generate breakout passes and offense? And your solution to the fact that opposing teams stack the ice on his side is to "use the forwards and the goalie"????? I hope to god you're ****ing kidding because this post is beyond ridiculous.

Why don't you go take a look at the points produced by all the defensemen who play on the left side and tell me that there is a single player who has been adequate in their role? Better yet watch the games and tell me that Karlsson has any help on the ice from his partner.

His LD partner had nothing to do with the goals in Boston. Nothing.

No but Cowen played that 2-1 about as good as I would (I play beer league hockey)

What's the point of talking crap against Cowen when we we're talking about Karlsson being awful?

It's like saying Zibanejad has been underwhelming but Greening is worst. It doesn't change the fact that Karlsson has been bad.

Greening isn't really playing with Zibanejad (which would drag him down) while Cowen was playing with Karlsson on that 2 on 1 (which he played horribly)

My example was bad, but the point is it's not like Karlsson played this well and Cowen made the mistake. Karlsson made the mistake and he was bad and has been really bad from the start of the season. If he played with Cowen or Phillips or Wiercioch he has been bad and only him is responsible for that. He is our first pairing D and he should be better than that. We can't expect to win when we have Karlsson playing against top lines every night the way he's been playing so far.

I disagree. I think Karlsson has been a mix of great, ok, and really bad in the games so far. I agree with most that he needs to be better and more consistent, but in about half the games he's been the best player on the ice.

Its kind of embarrassing to listen to all the seasons fans talk about this "pre Cooke" Karlsson and act like he'd be the best player in the game if it wasn't for his injury. That 17 game stretch was more to do with coming off of a lock out and Karl dominating a lot of weak eastern teams after playing in Europe.

Also, it wasn't my intention to bash Cowen, but pretty much every #1 Dman in the league has a steady Dman to help them out. If that was Methot instead of Cowen on the 2-1 Methot probably would of just went and poked the puck away instead of giving Fraser a free breakaway.

where have we looked decent.. this is like the leafs fans mentality last year.. just because your goalie can stop a ton of shots doesnt mean you are playing well...

yes we will be in the battle for a playoff spot... we battled for a playoff spot last year, but we played terrible....

i think its awesome that we have this record, but i dont think its indicative of how "well" we have played. its indicative of how well our goalies have played.

Can the most positive fans say we have played well? i understand were yougn and this is to be totally expected, but i mean, lets not lie to ourselves.

Ive thought for the most part Ottawa has looked pretty good, aside from the first Chicago and the second period of the Boston game.

I see a huge difference in the team then last year. Last year it was so painful to watch how awful the team came out in the third. This year the team has looked really good in the third in almost all the games which i think says a lot.

I do agree our goalies have been good and they may end up being the reason why Ottawa may make the playoffs, but from what i can tell the Sens look like they should be in the mix with Tampa, Montreal, and Detroit.

Karlsson's had a rocky start to the season, but we're 10 games in. Not even Karlsson knows where he'll finish in +/- this season.. 72 games to go.

Karlsson is still a badass and will make us forget about his rough start. Let's just look forward to when he gets back on track. He'll only get better.

This season it seems like Karlsson is standing still when he is forechecked by opposing forwards. Last year he seemed to be able to skate around people, and had a head of steam coming out of his end. Is this his partner's fault? Extra pressure from forecheckers? Other reason?...what should be done?

Only the truly special players need two threads complaining about the same things when they aren't playin to standard.

Feel like most of us will be watching him with more interest than actually watchin the game

Minus 3 tonite. Other teams are preying on Karlsson's small size. Weak defending in the corners. He should sit for a game.

the team had a bad game, and it'll be reflected on karlsson because of how much he plays

and he's been slowly getting back to even and should do so again

Are you ****ing kidding me?

He goes on a great streak against some of the best teams in the league positive for almost all games and tonight he only deserved only one of the minuses(Mainly terrible defense by Cowen) yet he should sit!?

LMAO. Chip u should be embarrassed big time, wow.

Karlsson has been terrific along the boards lately too btw. I can't believe what i'm reading.

Rose coloured glasses. Poster boy. Can do no wrong. Somehow still gets walked by bigger stronger forwards. Everybody can improve...even 65.

We should sit Karlsson and do what with that open spot on the blueline? Play Boro on his off hand?

Phillips - Ceci
Cowen - Boro
Wier - Gryba

Yeah that looks much better :shakehead....stupidest *****ing idea I've heard in a long time man

You mean 6'5 hayes getting infront of Karlsson in last second to deflect it in from a foot away?

He made some giveaways but he was a star relative to the rest of the team, how the hell anyone blames him for tonight is beyond me.

LOL @ Sitting the best offensive dman in the world. He may have defensive shortcomings but any other team would love to have him, yet here we are wanting to scratch the only star we have :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

it is "worse." I think some sort of wielding of the English Language should first be attained before being able to criticize.

It is pathetic really how every one jumps on Karlsson after one bad game. Lets talk about Legwand, a veteran who has really basically done F all and made some very stupid, noticeably lazy plays.
