Stalin was a mass-murdering, paranoid lunatic. Couldn't care less that he was a Communist.

lol at the comment comparing him to George W. Bush, holy ****.

I agree with Bryzgalov though, I'd also like to meet Stalin

Apparently stating the same thing everyone else is stating, but using a reformatted comparison generates misinderstandings.

I was merely saying that just as Bryz might want to have met Stalin to experience his madness and his rational behind some of his actions on a personal level because I'm sure it would be interesting, someone may want to meet W to experience his stupidity on a personal level.

Are you saying you had a deep point you were trying to get across? There is a rather big difference with someone having a positive opinion of Stalin as compared to George W. Bush.

The correlation that suggests that bush committed mass genocide is what you're assuming that I'm implying...

I wasn't comparing them in any other way other than making a jab at W for not possibly generating a positive feeling in anyone... It was a joke obviously gone wrong.

Oh my god no one knows what a joke is. I'm not getting into a debate about Clinton, Obama, Bush, Stalin, Fox News or the damned NRA.

Ah, I see.

I'm just shocked because, to me, Bryz seems smart enough to realize that millions of deaths was not something "unavoidable". I guess the belief of Stalin as a great father figure lingers on in Russia. :(

No totally, Stalin was a sociopath...

But I think what Bryz is saying is being misinterpreted, as usual.

I doubt anyone i really comparing Stalin to Bush. Nothing wrong with thinking that you would like to meet both men and try and figure out whats going on above the neck with both men.
As far as the rest of your question, I am not going to answer. We all know that we have loyal republicans and democratats on this board and they will defend their party to the death.

As for the Stalin comments. He is very popular in Russia again. For instance, Volgograd is going to be called Stalingrad again for 1 week a year- the anniversary of Stalingrad battle. There are multiple petitions to make the change permanent. Unfortunately, in times of financial instability folks in Russia are longing for dictatorship.

Beef was correct saying that there are different perceptions of him here and over there.

I feel like if Russians don't have a problem with it than nobody else should neither.

As a Philadelphian, I agree with him there's a lot of brutal areas in this city. I don't blame any person for not wanting to live in city opposed to the suburbs.

Could as well be one of those ill-translated statements.

Don't forget that he is Russian. In Russia the Stalinistic era is much less of a taboo than for instance the Nazi era in Germany or Austria where a similar statement would almost certainly cost you your job and you may not get employment for the foreseeable future again.

Anyway, I can't imagine Bryz as a Communist nor did he mean to praise Stalin directly as far as I get it.

I am now to the point I do not read a single "article" from these hacks unless there are quotes from Holmgren or Pryor on prospects that I could not get elsewhere. The source to get to those article is this site. I purposely try and avoid giving their websites hits.

The media sucks but he knows that whatever he says is going to get back to his bosses. I, like someone else mentioned further up-thread, believe he is doing whatever he can to get bought out. I don't care about the Stalin comments but I didn't like what he said about Philly and I've never even been there. Why would you say bad things about your city even if you believe them? There is no way he should have insulted the city he works in.

For a person who criticizes the media so much, he sure likes to use them alot to spout off his typical gibberish.

Btw...if he likes the West so much Flyers should trade him to Edmonton where he can lay on his back like he does here and make snow angels....

Wonder if he likes Winnipeg more than Philly?

I am still amazed that this peice of garbage journalism got published. The author did not use either reliable source or reliable translation, she just twisted a few exerpts and demanded for Bryz to be fired?

The war of words between Bryz and Philadelphia media just stooped to the all time low.

P.S. I also posted my translation of complete Bryz interview in the goaltending thread.

Bryz just played his worst game ever and allowed 8 goals from team USA in the quarter finals. No idea why the russian coach was blind enough to let him play :)
oh well

Anyway Bryz, comrade Stalin sentences you to a lifetime of hard labor in Siberia, for your lack of effort during the NHL season and during this world championship.

goodbye comrade Bryz

Are you saying Hitler was a communist and was not supported by German capitalists?

The very fact you would choose to frame this question this way shows everything I need to see.

I didn't mention communism whatsoever.

I don't think Bryz has been good as a goalie for e Flyers, and honestly I don't even think he is a good goalie I general but this **** with the media is getting out of control. Starting to remind me of timmyp's hate of Richards where he would post a new article every week bashing him. Media everywhere is starting to become crazy.

I live here and believe me he isn't wrong. I don't get why he has to sugarcoat his opinion when it is true about some areas of the city.

I really don't care what kind of crazy things come out of his mouth, all I care about is if he stops the puck or not...
