Benn won the Ross with 87 points, it's possible for a dman to exceed that but unlikely it would coincide with a down year for forwards
It shouldn't happen any time soon.
(could be likelier this season with a smaller number of games though)
He won the Ross because scoring was down league wide. D-men get affected by lulls in scoring too.

Yes, but I think it's still more achievable to hit a lower number of points (even if it's proportionally the same) due to fluky streaks and such. I'd be much less surprised to see a defender hit 80 points that season than 100 last season.
