Good move, Connelly kind of replaced him in Houston, keeps our contracts at 48. Wasn't going to see the NHL with this team anyway.

If Fletch wasn't looking at a larger trade, he wouldn't need to open up contract spots. We have a lot coming off the books after this season, and could always trade during the summer, so it would be no rush if there wasn't something else going on.

This trade does nothing but clear up space for us. A conditional 7th in 2014, like that does anyhting for either team. It's not like any other team in the league is calling around, just seeking that great Chay Genoway...

The only purpose was to open up space for us, and there is a purpose to that, and its only purpose is to use that space before summer. Be it a college signing or something, something else is coming.

Keep in mind for a larger trade to happen you probably are going to trade some guys that are on the current roster to make that happen! Unless someone is going to give us a player for draft picks. But people seem to think there is a big deal coming next I just dont see a blockbuster trade in the works for the Wild just cause they opened a contract spot.

It also could be just getting rid of a D at the AHL level because Dumba's Red Deer Rebels will likely get bounced from the WHL Playoffs next week, and he is free to play in Houston after that.
