I don't know about the NHL, but the Dutch national team did it in the World Cup this summer.

Ron Wilson did it once in 2008. They lost.

Best goaltending duel of of the season so far. That game was intense, most entertaining 0-0 game I've seen in a long while.

Loungo vs Rinne was quite good aswell..

Think Lou saved over 50 shots in that game!

Wings pull Howard for Mrazek. Then in goes Jason Williams for the second shooter after Datsyuk.

Yes and no. Last game against the Isles, he tried Severson and Zidlicky. The Devils problem imo is that Schneider sucks in shootouts. He's 7-15 in his career with a .597 SV%.

Last year was weird. Both Clowe and Elias prior to last year were around 45% (Elias) and 40% (Clowe) respectively. Elias went 0 for 8. Clowe went 0 for 5.

Right now on the Devils, Ruutu (37.5%) and Gomez (33.3%) have the two best shootout percentages on the team career wise. Pete FINALLY used both of them last game against the Isles. For whatever reason, he uses all the sucky shootout players the most.

Schneider may not be great at shootouts but your lack of goal scoring is a bigger issue, even kinkaid has lost two already that he has been in. Honestly watching the devils try to score or hit an open net at times makes my eyes bleed. And im watching it right now vs the sens in a 1-0 game.

Hasn't Howard let in like 11 of his last 14 shots against in shootouts?

That would be the primary reason.

But I think you'd be hard pressed to try and blame him for tonight's loss. Both he and Sergei were great.

Correct, Howard has been beaten in almost every shot in the shootout, and of his 3 saves, 1 or 2 were wide so in reality, Howard has only touched the puck once or twice in 14 attempts.

17 wins.....good for 4th in the conference. The teams around them are at 20, and Toronto is at 19 with a game in hand. Sometimes you can't help but LOL at the point system

I think youve failed to realize, the reason wings are not on top of their conference is because of shootouts, if they would win even 50% of their shootouts, thus giving them 3 more wins, they would be at the #1 spot. The shootout is actually a disfavor for the wings, because most teams in the same boat would have more 'wins', thus points, had they gone to the SO.

It should also be pointed out that Howard's last 4 wins required him to stop every single shot.

The last time the Red Wings scored more than one shootout goal with Howard in net: April 2012.

That has partially to do with the fact, Howard can not keep them in the Shootout to last longer than 3 rounds. The forwards arent the greatest, but the biggest fault is Howard since so many SO's never go past 3 rounds most of the time.

Its also worth noting, the one shootout win we've gotten this year was with Mrazek in net.

This has to be a mental issue. Howard used to be quite good at the shootout. Our shooters can't be inspiring much confidence, but even so we know he can be better.

After watching tonight I'm convinced it's all in Jimmy's head. Mrazek was no more technically sound than Howard was a few years ago in the SO. He challenged guys early, used the glove and pads to great effect and ultimately got beat stick side.

The McK & Duchene goals were virtually unstoppable, whatever. Ceding a "winner" point to the W conference doesn't mean anything for our standings.
