Mods, move this if there is already a thread about it...

There's so much parity in this league that nowadays it's really hard to determine how well your goaltender is going to be in that given year. We've seen lots of ups and downs from many goalies, and huge question marks. Here's a few examples:

-Cam Talbot have a god year, and then just crashing back down to earth next season.
-Holtby playing like garbage in the season and then going god mode in the playoffs.
-Grubauer playing like a starter as a backup, gets traded to Colorado and will get to be given his time (this one is TBD)
-Murray playing really well with Fleury around, took a step back without him.
-Fleury playing rather well for Vegas in the inaugural season, will that continue?
-Darling playing pretty decent in Chicago, doesn't do so hot in Carolina
-Price taking a step down (mainly because of the team)
-Bobrovsky playing absolutely lights out in the season, becomes mediocre in the playoffs.
-Vasilevsky and Hellebuyck having monster seasons.

And before you tell me, I know that the team up in front of these goaltenders play a huge factor in all of this. But, most of the elite goalies are able to withstand those obstacles for the most part and are able to play their best hockey. Then again, I am referring to goalies from years ago. Nowadays, it's really hard to even determine who is the top 10.

So I suppose I have a few questions:

What are some upcoming prospects that look like they can become the new elite goaltenders in the future?
Does the team that plays in front of you mean a whole lot more than what it did a few years ago?
Can you can just slot in a mediocre goaltender and make the playoffs now?
What goalies have the potential to be in the top 5 within the next few years?

Bobrovsky, because he's shown he can be consistently elite and won't decline much over that period.
