EPs first game back after a 17 day injury absence.

Did anyone make ground on EP40 for the Calder?

Dahlin i know had that point streak....
Heiskanen?

Is it a closer race ?
Nope, EP still has a 18 pts lead on 2nd place Colin White despite missing 12 games.

This year’s rookie forwards are weak except EP, his biggest competitors are Dahlin and Heiskenan.

But let’s be honest, those are battling for 2nd place in votes.

didn't make it any closer enough to bother paying attention to it. Dahlin has been playing really well as a Sabres fan I obviously see him often he would be able to catch up if he already had a great shot(shooting wise) but he doesn't.

It’s a weak forward crop this year. He’s the easy standout.
He's on pace for 80 points this year (in 71 games), which would rank 22nd all-time (and 5th best in the last 25 years) for rookie scoring despite missing 11 games.

He wins the scoring race regardless of how strong his competition is.

Barzal is the only rookie in the last decade that has bested 80 points and he played all 82 games (lower ppg than EP).

'09-'10: Duchene (55)
'10-'11: Skinner (63)
'11-'12: Landeskog/Nugent-Hopkins (52)
'12-'13: Huberdeau/Yakupov (31)*
'13-'14: Mackinnon (63)
'14-'15: Gaudreau/Stone (64)
'15-'16: Panarin (77)
'16-'17: Matthews (69)
'17-'18: Barzal (85)
'18-'19: Pettersson (80)**

* = Lockout shortened season, pace for 53 points
** = Current pace

I'm gonna..
I think if Dahlin puts up a 50-60 point season he has a shot, but only if Pettersson's pace drops pretty dramatically.

I think it'd be a pretty safe bet to guess Pettersson being the Calder winner this season, not that I really care about the award that much, as long as the player who deserves it gets it.

If that's Dahlin, he must have put up a damn good season for it to happen.

EP will win it no doubt. Dahlin and Heiskanen will battle for the 2nd place.

It is EPs to lose right now. As a Sabres fan that sucks, but you need a perfect storm for a D to win the Calder. There needs to be basically no forwards having a notable year because point totals get weighted so heavily. In Ekblads 39 points winning season the rookie leaders had 63/64 points but they still gave it to the D. If Dahlin finishes with 45 ish points hes on pace for and EP doesnt pass that point threshold (very unlikely) thats the only reason I could see him winning it.

Easiest award winner to project right now, IMO.

Dahlin and Hart are the outsiders.

If Hart somehow drags Flyers into playoffs than... anything can happen.

They'd hafta win about 11 straight out of the break to even be in the picture. Anything can happen, but the Flyers aren't even gonna sniff the playoff conversation.

EP without a doubt.

Where’s the love for Rittich as one of the top 3 finalists though? He deserves to be in the conversation.

If Dahlin breaks 60, I bet he gets it if EP finishes around 80. Dahlin is currently on pace for ~45 points, but he’s been really heating up lately points-wise so it’s not impossible. Also his minutes have been increasing as well. Played 25 minutes last game and first PP.

Yep agreed,Colin White is also injured, and he has been found gold for us this season...But EP has been electric and wins the calder easily

If Dahlin gets to 60 I don't see how he can't win the calder unless Pettersson starts producing even more. We're talking a U20 season production-wise that only HHoFers that played in the 80's have eclipsed(Housley, Murphy & Bourque). As for U19, only Housley has eclipsed 60 pts.

However, Dahlin won't get to 60, this is all EP40.

Apart from the points, EP has been by far the Canucks best player. He drives the offence and the PP and already plays a pretty good two way game. What he’s done for the team as a whole would be pretty impressive even for an older player.
