The one who was inexplicably snubbed from the farcical NHL Top 100 players list.

I took the stats from elite prospects, but from the Russian (all) lines... Not sure what else that included on top of WC and Olympic.

I see, so then it included some of those not recognized tournaments like euro hockey tour, etc, but those stats are incomplete (especially prior to 2010), which is why elite prospects does not list career totals for the national teams and why Wikipedia pages don’t include them under international stats.

Give Kane 2 or 3 more seasons to catch up to Malkin’s age and I think within those 3 seasons he’ll take the lead.

Stats are closer than I thought but Malkin has generally been a better player with comparable hardware (and more injuries unfortunately)

It’s close but nod to Malkin. His 2008-09 Season as a whole (RS + PS) is incredibly impressive:

-149 points / 106gp / 1.40ppg
-49g / 100a

-Stanley Cup / Conn Smythe
-Art Ross
-1st team AS

Not only is Malkin the better offensive player, he is substantially better than Kane defensively. Malkin is subpar in his own end, but Kane is one of the worst defensive players in NHL history.

I think Kane will hold up and could be an elite player for 5,6,7 years still so him.

I also think his run ins early on his career hurt him...he should probably have won the Conn Smythe in 2010 and a better Hart showing in 2013

Kane is a few years younger and should age a little better but I value peak and how good you were at your best over longevity. So it’s Malkin pretty easily.

A guy with that size who plays center and put up those numbers, easy choice.

I see Kane having the longer, better career. I guess you can still value peak more when evaluating a career but that’s not how I view this question. I expect Kane to score a few hundred points more than Malkin but who knows really.

Kane is still dominating, while Malkin is not.

Kane.
And Malkin was dominating from 20 years old. It took Kane 8 years for a superstar 100 point season. Six of those seasons were below ppg. Malkin only ever had one below ppg. He had like 80 some points in there once. One bad year from a 34 year old Malkin ain’t changing that.

amazing how closely aligned their careers have been. I didn’t expect to see that.
