I'd have interest in Heatley, Leino, Volchenkov, and Lecavalier interest me a little. I like Volchenkov but I'd rather see the Flyers go with some of the D prospects they have.

I'm sure Leino would take a huge pay cut for a second chance with the Flyers.

Not only would they proactively buyout a still productive star player in Hossa but also deliverately throw away another season that they could just wait and see him score goals while reassessing the situation until the buyout window closes next year?
Does not sound plausible to me... not at all!

Using the same logic you can't sign a player to a new long term contract either because there is always a potential risk of him getting injured and the team being stuck with his contract.

I'd kick the tires around Laich, Richards, and Ruutu definitely. Heatley and Havlat scare me a little too much. Leino maybe for a very, very good price. I don't think there's any chance the Lightning buy out Lecavalier this summer. They'll amnesty Malone to give them some breathing room and give Vinny at least another year before deciding whether to keep him or not.

I'm just gonna say that this buyout situation is rather exciting as it will add some big name guys to the FA mix that could be had on the cheap (or at least way less than their current pay) that could come in on a 1-2 year deal, provide vet leadership, and help the young core grow. The Jagr experiment worked well IMO last year.
