1. Subban for reason of shortened season (won 1/2 of a Norris)

2. Doughty for whining his way to a Norris/winning based on playoff success.

3. Lidstrom for winning mostly on reputation

...the 2011 Norris Trophy was given to a player whom that season shouldn't have even been up for the award...now, that guy was Nicklas Lidstrom, who got it as a going away gift from the NHL, so it wasn't THAT big of a deal...except to Shea Weber, who should have won it easily...

This is so dumb.

People who say this in hindsight are hilarious. Weber didnt even have the second most first place votes bUt He ShOuLd HaVe WoN iT eAsIlY

I didn't vote because I thought all of these were fine.

If anything, Doughty should have won it in 2015 and Karlsson should have won it in 2016, so the voters were just like

Not as it bad as it was in 1990's or 2010's when it appeared only a few veterans were in race and got an extra bump for their career track record. Arguments can be made for each of them in the final Norris year Bourque (1993-94), Coffey (1994-95), Chelios (1995-96), Lidstrom (2010-11).

Burns for sure. Guy at no point even attempted to play defense.

Shocked how many votes Doughty has. One of the most deserving.
Burns is interesting because Hedman finished only a few points behind him, but Tampa didn't make the playoffs and he got no hype for it.

I think many of them got the years wrong but the players right. The only one I truly feel bad for that I think got shafted overall was prime Weber, I think voters assumed he'd grab one another year...

Doughty also should really have a 2nd one. I don't think the winners those years were undeserving, but Doughty had a very clear case vs. Keith, Karlsson, and Hedman those years, and the voters still writing have made it VERY clear they weren't actually watching as close as this forum was those years, lol.

This is the worst narrative/name on this board. People like to say the due doughty crap but forget he was robbed the year before.
Not nearly as egregious of a snub. It was a close race for the Norris that season.

Karlsson was flat out dominant in 15/16 - posting the best season by a blueliner in over 20 years. HE WAS 4th!!! In leaguewide scoring and scored 20 points more than his highest scoring teammate. That’s INSANE. He should’ve been a finalist for the hart.

But defenceman no make playoffs so no norris for Karlsson. Adam Fox won it last year btw….

Due Doughty for sure.

At least Subban didn't cry to the media about how unfair life is.

This can't be overstated. This is what's actually the problem with Due winning the Norris.

The self-flagellating pity party that the media gobbled up just goes to discredit the impact of winning these trophies, but maybe they never mattered in the first place.

And Good Old Canadian Boys don't get called whiny bitches by the media, they get elevated to martyrdom.

...you pretty much explained it to yourself; he was basically a PP specialist at that stage and was soo heavily sheltered defensively that he wasn't even Detroit's best D-man that season, imo...Weber was an absolute dominant force that season and the next, Swedish Jesus' first win...it was his parting gift from the NHL for being the greatest D-man of that Generation...
People are just making stuff up about Lidstrom’s season that year now. Lidstrom was absolutely not sheltered and was definitely still Detroit’s best defenseman.
