It should be acknowledged that MacKinnon has put up prime Crosby-esque numbers for 7 straight seasons...

Regular Season

MacKinnon (2018 - '24)
249 goals, 664 points, +142 in 474 games

Crosby (2007 - '14)
235 goals, 667 points, +125 in 469 games

Playoffs

MacKinnon (career)
44 goals, 100 points, +34 in 77 games

Crosby (2008 - '13)
37 goals, 100 points, +16 in 77 games

So, forget about Yzerman vs Sakic, Bourque vs Lidstrom, and Gretzky vs Lemieux!

There is only one debate that matters. The Nate Debate. And it is here...

When you look at the regular seasons when they were the same age, what does the numbers look like? Like first 8 or 10 seasons for both.

MacKinnon trophy case: 1 Calder, 1 Byng and 1 cup

Crosby trophy case: 2 Harts, 3 Lindsays, 2 Art Rosses, 2 Richards, 2 Conn Smythes and 3 cups

It's really not a valid question. MacKinnon putting up similar point totals to Crosby when scoring is higher today than it was for Crosby doesn't mean they're comparable players.
I had no idea that Mackinnon won the Bying.

What an honor for him.

The trophy cabinet does it by its self. Mackinnon is a beast. But he is not even sniffing the same level of accomplishment as Sid.

Not really. They weren't even part of the same generation of players. Crosby and OV already had years under their belts. Their peaks didn't overlap and very little prime years.

MacKinnon was probably underrated for a bit due to the no 100 point seasons thing, and he might end up as a top 50 player of all time. But Crosby’s a top 10 player of all time. The higher scoring league doesn’t make them on the same level.

Crosby had a better all-around game and the stats presented in the OP aren't adjusted for era. Scoring has generally been higher the last seven seasons than it was from '07-'14. Crosby also didn't have two lackluster seasons in his early career like MacKinnon did.

Mack is really f***ing good, though. By the end of his career, he may be a better first overall than anyone drafted so far this century aside from Ovechkin, Crosby and McDavid.

Prime Kane versus Mackinnon seems like a better discussion than this. In fact, I have an idea for a poll...

As an Avs fan, I got to go with Crosby. Unless Mack finishes with 1-2 more cups and some Harts/Art Rosses/Conn Smyths when it is all said and done.
