So looking at cap fri the Bruins have over 7 million in cap space but they still have Charlie Mac and Carlo to sign, that 7 million may not get Mac signed let alone both of them so the question is how do they clear the necessary cap space?

Who gets moved to keep them?

Backes with heavy retention for future considerations

Wont work, T.O couldn't move Marleau and Backes has major injury concerns.

Only works if its dump for dump (you can trade Backes for someone with a lower AAV but slightly longer term). That or pay someone to take him off your hands.

That extra year and only an 8 team trade he's ideal but that's tough.

BOS would need to add a decent pick or prospect as well I guess. Will be interesting to see how they make those two RFA deals work with limited cap space.

Boston has about 7.3 mil in space with 14 forwards, 7 dmen and 2 goalies. Send Kampfer, Clifton and Nordstrom to the AHL. Saves them another 2.5 mil. With McAvoy and Carlo signed, that gives them 13 forwards, 7 dmen and 2 goalies.

They aren't moving any big contracts at this point.

What do you think he gets on a bridge?

5 mil x 2? Not sure really.

Is there any chance that Backes goes to LTIR? How injured is he? I have to believe that Boston believes they have the cap space they need. It's too late in the summer to be moving big contract. Very few teams have any cap space.

Boston fans are hoping that Backes will eventually go on the LTIR list. Right now Boston has about $7.3 million in available cap space but if Backes go on the LTIR list that would give them $13.3 million in cap space which is more than enough to sign McAvoy and Carlo. :thumbu:
