If two teams are relatively even, which I think you can say "A" and "B" are, I think over a long season or even a long competition like the UCL, the team with more balance is better, and will have a better chance to win.

I'd argue the opposite. In one off matches that shape can misfire up front and let some past on the counter. But over the course of a league campaign they're going to rack up points at a faster rate than the team with more balance but less firepower.

I would think both teams shouldn't struggle to put up points, so the deciding matches might be matches against the bigger teams in the league or competition.
