Am I missing something with people saying Arturri Lehkonen? Doesn't seem like expectations would have been too high for him this year compared to what he's done.

While he's up to a still poor 5 goals now, when I wrote that list he only had 2 compared to the 18 he put in last year in his rookie year (and first year on N.A ice).

I think a lot of people thought he would take off this year and pot 20-25, doesn't look like it, but he still looks solid defensively and might have turned the corner in the last few games with some goals.

Thats a weird argument. We're Ovi and Jagr not having impressive 05/06 seasons just because the top 10 involved Jonathan Cheechoo and Brian Gionta?

I wasn't saying that he's not having an impressive season (I'm a big Laine fan btw). I was just saying that's not the best justification for why he's having such a good season.

Marcus Johansson's stat line looks disappointing in a vacuum, but the fact he's had three major injuries and hasn't been able to play more than like 15 consecutive games all year is probably responsible for most of that. He was playing quite well before Marchand gooned him.

For those saying Drouin... please... He's a winger playing center on a s**tshow team. What did you expect? I don't really hold anything against him; in fact, I liked the acquisition (maybe not what we gave up for him) and I'm disappointed management squandered his talent with half-a**ed decisions. He's been put in a ridiculous situation where he has little chance of success.

As for Price, the team has imploded around him and he can't do anything about it. His only thoughts right now must be "I want out!"

But in respect to the OP, my team's real letdown is Pacioretty. Is supposed to be a leader but has no leadership. Is supposed to be our best forward but is one-dimensional. Is supposed to be able to carry the team forward but has no guts. Playoff-mode Pacioretty manages to be even worse! Frankly, I can't wait to see him gone and I'm just hoping we get a good return for a perennial 30-35 goal scorer with a year left on his contract.

I feel for Drouin and agree with your points but have no sympathy for Price. He should have seen the writing on the wall and he chose to sign a massive 8 year contract. Now he's gonna have to ride that out and it's going to suck. At least his millions will ease the pain.

Pacioretty, Weber, Ristolainen, Price, Karlsson, Schultz, Murray, Burakovsky, Darling, Faulk, Klefbom, Talbot, Draisaitl, Niederreiter, Toews, Allen, Atkinson, Wennberrg, Domi...

Ristolianen?

What?

He’s the only d man on our team and is doing pretty good, averages more time then any player not named doughty. Scandella and McCabe are “okay”

Blocks shots, hits, creates plays, scores, good on the pp, penalty kill, he does it all.

He was out for a bit and plays on the worst team so of course his plus minus is gonna be bad.

So was Myers when he was here and look at him now.

Nylander, I was told he is a superstar, coming into the season

Nick kypreos said he was going to win the rocket soon. Of course that was last year but still....

He also assumed Matthews was going to be like a mcdavid assist guy which he isn’t, Matthews is amazing that wasn’t a shot at him it’s just Nylander is not going to win the rocket any time soon, and maybe kipper thought if Matthews had a high assist total then he would? I mean I don’t know why he’d say he was going to when he didn’t even get 20 last year.

Kypreos is more of a Marner guy though now.

Engerlanddd!
The Sens scored 3 goals tonight yet Karlsson was still a -3
Amen.

Like, I get it - major surgery, no training camp etc etc but he’s been horrendous for us this season. Couple that with Anderson being dreadful (and signed for another 2 years after this season) and it’s not hard to see why we suck

Puljujärvi , Karlsson , Koivu.

Laine has put up some decent Point totals , but he's far from being a complete player , which in itself is scary lol.

Laine is a weird one, leads the league in PP goals and has the skill set of a PP specialist but is still disappointing.
Yeah I agree. His overall play has been underwhelming this year. It might be that the other teams are giving him special attention , and he is yet to decipher that. Great player in the making for sure , but he's very raw at some aspects of his game. But once he figures it all out then look out.

Somewhere nice
People were pretty sure he is going to hit 50, win Maurice and be the best goal-scorer this season. With also very good all-around game.

Havent seen that. I know how old he is but I’m just saying that he has been dissappointment. Read what people were expecting and compare his play via stats and eye-test to that.
He will hit 50 but it doesnt mean this year.
I know his stats and i watch him game in and game out all games.

Since you know how old he is . Then im pretty sure you know where he ranks in most goals as under 20 yr old player in the nhl history.

If he would have scored 50 this year that would be 86 goals as a teenager .
He'll probably be around 70 to 72 by the year end.

His deployment has changed from the first 50 games of last year after he came back from his injury last year. He is being kept on the Little line 90% of his 5on5.

(Im thinking he is being deployed and train like Schiefele when he first started).

Laine didnt start as the main trigger man on the power play this year. He forced his way to being the best power play goal scorer in the league. He is doing that without Buff feeding him the puck.

He is hovering around top 15 in goals in tbe league all year. He is even younger than all the best rookies this year even our Jets 2 rookies.

Your expectation is to high if he is disappointing you. His assist got #%## up but his goal scoring as a teenager is one of the better ones you will see for awhile.

It is.

Pate is putting up an astounding .75 ppg. Way better than Nylanders measly .74. Pate is a shoe in for multiple rockets and art ross’. Nylander is terrible

Laine is on pace for less goals, in more games, this season compared with last. He’s a big disappointment to those of us expecting 50 + goals at minimum. Generational shot and goal scoring ability. Coming in to the season in his new “man body”.

Since this disrespectful post comparing him to a player like Nylander, Laine is a top 5 player in the world averaging more than a goal a game.

Laine is tied in the rocket race and heating up just in time for the playoffs.

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the NHL. I watch as many Pens games as I can, follow NHL news, etc. I have never, ever heard of Lehkonen.

*Googles name*
*looks at stats*

How can someone who was never good be mentioned in this thread?

To me you are describing a casual fan. Artturi Lehkonen should be a name you recognize, he was a top 60 pick who nearly scored 20 goals as a rookie last year.

Really ?

Hes sharing 1st line ice time with 2 other lines and he has 40 goals

At the time he was a dissappointment. People were expecting that he is top-5 player in the world. That expectation isnt set by me.
