Well, it's clear to me that many people never got a chance to watch Lindros or Bure or Fedorov.

That line would beat you to a pulp physically, burn you with speed, and be rock solid defensively.

Because everyone picked the other players from the same time period? Damn kids.

Those three guys are great but honestly I think Jagr, Forsberg, and Sakic are better individually and not worried at all about them being bullied.

Because if you had replaced Forsberg with Fronsbrig (a theoretical player with the exact same stats as Foppa), almost nobody would pick that group.
For some strange reason, Forsberg is revered as the ultimate player on these boards.

5.

The combination of puck protection, playmaking, goal scoring, and clutch play is too much to deny. Not to mention you also get the 3rd and 4th best defensive forwards from the list as well.

I think, these are hard to rank. 5 is a clear winner though and 1, 2, 3 can be arranged in any order.

Line 5 would be like how the other team is like when I play EA NHL 2021 online against someone good.... I don’t touch the puck the entire game.

You mean the 4th highest ppg since 1994?

NHL Stats

Half of that done on one ankle.

2nd highest +/- for that same time frame. While playing 400 games less than Bergeron(3rd) and 250 games less than Datsyuk(1st).

His stats are phenomenal and they still undersell him.

Line 4 for sure. GOAT sniper, your elite 2 way C, and your elite playmaker. They got all bases covered, and Ovi doesn't need to possess the puck so much. Just set up and wait for perfect feeds from Kane and Datsyuk

Crosby is the best player on this list and Malkin gives a run to anyone else for #2, and probably ends up #4.

This isn't very close, probably.

PPG is always more impressive when you retire early and don't play a ton of games after your prime.

Fun idea, too many centers on the list, I'd prefer actual wingers on each line
That being said I'd probably take line 4

If you were to rank the players
Crosby=15
Jagr=14
Ovechkin=13
Mcdavid=12
Malkin=11
Forsberg=10
Lindros=9
Kane=8
Sakic=7
Fedorov=6
Datsyuk=5
Bure=4
Mackinnon=3
Stamkos=2
Matthews=1

15 players, all assigned a value for their ranking, line 5 comes out ahead because of Stamkos who's much worse than Joe

Line 5= 14+10+7 = 31
Line 1 = 15+11+ 2= 27
Line 4 = 13+8+5=26
Line 3= 6+9+4 = 19
Line 2 = 12+ 3+1 = 16

Tempted to change my vote but its hard to go against Crosby

3, 1, 5, 2, 4

If I were to rank these lines, I'd pick them in that order.

I think Matthews - McDavid - Mackinnon would be the most fun to watch though. The speed of McDavid and Mack.
Jagr, Forsberg, Sakic would be the most steady line.
Ovechkin's line would definitely be the spikiest line. Ovechkin and Kane are both pretty sub-par defensively, and I'm not sure if Dats could make up.

The Crosby line would be pretty damn good though. Just overall really good.

It's a pretty interesting set of lines.

Whenever I'm about to vote for one, I think of another.

For some reason I'm tempted to go Line 3 or Line 5 which is interesting because they are the only two without active players, so maybe I'm biased.

It's more about the make-up of those lines rather than the quality of the individual players.

I guess I'm trying to imagine how you'd get the puck back against Line 5.

Stamkos seems to be the weak link for the Pens' duo line. Every other line has all 3 players who were, or are, playing at MVP caliber seasons. Stamkos hasn't ever really had a Hart/Lindsay type season.

For me, I hesitated with lines 1 and 5. Crosby is the best player here and Malkin isn't that far behind but it's hard to pass on a Sakic/Forsberg/Jagr combo.

That's because his best season was second to Malkin in his best season. 60 goal Stamkos was a monster who isn't all that far off from many of the others here and the thought of peak Sid and Geno feeding him goal after goal is tempting.
