So if we are strong at the forward position in the prospect realm lets dream about who might be the best targets for us to exchange defensive prospects with. Obviously LHD are the target but it's open to quality exchanges.

For me I'd like a LHD that's been drafted 3-4 years ago and has some AHL time or overseas major league experience.

So our higher level forward prospects include:

Kyle Connor L 6' 1" 177 9 Dec 1996 19 Clinton Twp., MI, USA
Chase De Leo C 5' 9" 185 25 Oct 1995 20 La Mirada, CA, USA
Erik Foley L 6' 0" 185 30 Jun 1997 18 Norwood, MA, USA
Jansen Harkins C 6' 1" 182 23 May 1997 19 Cleveland, OH, USA
Scott Kosmachuk R 5' 11" 185 24 Jan 1994 22 Richmond Hill, ON, CAN
Brendan Lemieux L 6' 1" 210 15 Mar 1996 20 Denver, CO, USA
Ryan Olsen C 6' 1" 187 25 Mar 1994 22 Delta, BC, CAN
Jack Roslovic C 6' 1" 182 29 Jan 1997 19 Columbus, OH, USA
Michael Spacek R 5' 11" 187 9 Apr 1997 19 Marianske Lazne, CZE

Value Added Jets:
40 Joel Armia R 6' 3" 205 31 May 1993 23 Pori, FIN
6 Alex Burmistrov C 6' 1" 180 21 Oct 1991 24 Kazan, RUS
9 Andrew Copp C 6' 1" 206 8 Jul 1994 21 Ann Arbor, MI, USA
56 Marko Dano C 5' 11" 183 30 Nov 1994 21 Eisenstadt, AUT
46 JC Lipon R 6' 0" 183 10 Jul 1993 22 Regina, SK, CAN
18 Bryan Little C 6' 0" 191 12 Nov 1987 28 Edmonton, AB, CAN
17 Adam Lowry C 6' 5" 210 29 Mar 1993 23 St. Louis, MO, USA
14 Anthony Peluso R 6' 3" 235 18 Apr 1989 27 North York, ON, CAN
85 Mathieu Perreault C 5' 10" 188 5 Jan 1988 28 Drummondville, QC, CAN
19 Nic Petan L 5' 9" 179 22 Mar 1995 21 Delta, BC, CAN
12 Drew Stafford R 6' 2" 214 30 Oct 1985 30 Milwaukee, WI, USA
13 Brandon Tanev L 6' 0" 180 31 Dec 1991 24 Toronto, ON, CAN
22 Chris Thorburn R 6' 3" 235 3 Jun 1983 33 Sault Ste. Marie, ON, CAN
26 Blake Wheeler "A" R 6' 5" 225 31 Aug 1986 29 Plymouth, MN, USA

My dreamworld scenario would be getting Werenski/Sanheim and Pulock. But that'd be close to impossible.

Edit: Also Gostisbehere. That'd be amazing.

Match up both teams needs.

okay:

Hanifin, Noah CAR 2015 5 6'3 203 D L 25-Jan-97 Boston, MA -- CAR not interested
Nurse, Darnell EDM 2013 7 6'4 205 D L 4-Feb-95 Hamilton, ON -- Trouba
Werenski, Zach CBJ 2015 8 6'2 214 D L 19-Jul-97 Grosse Pointe, MI -- CBJ not interested (or negative Clarkson)
Theodore, Shea ANA 2013 26 6'2 182 D L 3-Aug-95 Langley, BC -- Connor or Ehlers
Sanheim, Travis PHI 2014 17 6'3 183 D L 29-Mar-96 Elkhorn, MB -- PHI not interested
Zboril, Jakub BOS 2015 13 6'1 185 D L 21-Feb-97 Brno, CZE -- no clue
Pouliot, Derrick PIT 2012 8 6'0 203 D L 16-Jan-94 Weyburn, SK -- interesting one, he might be available even though he wasn't for Kessel; keep in mind he's coming off a rather disappointing year and is not expansion draft exempt
Chabot, Thomas OTT 2015 18 6'2 181 D L 30-Jan-97 QC -- OTT not interested
Reilly, Mike MIN 2011 98 6'1 183 D L 13-Jul-93 Chicago, Il -- MIN's cap situation makes me think they really don't want to part with ELCs
Bigras, Chris COL 2013 32 6'1 194 D L 22-Feb-95 Orillia, ON -- was pencilled into the lineup by coach/mgmt; if COL needs to improve anything it's defense (and coaching); don't see them interested
Fleury, Haydn CAR 2014 7 6'3 203 D L 8-Jul-96 Regina, SK -- maybe he might possibly potentially become available.
Morin, Samuel PHI 2013 11 6'7 225 D L 12-Jul-95 Lac Beauport, QC -- I know some of our posters are not particularly high on that specific prospect
Dermott, Travis TOR 2015 34 6'0 196 D L 12-Dec-96 Newmarket, ON -- TOR not interested
Hickey, Brandon CGY 2014 64 6'2 190 D L 13-Apr-96 Edmonton, AB -- meh.

RHD Targets
Bowey, Madison WSH 2013 53 6'2 207 D R 24-Apr-95 Winnipeg, MB -- WSH not interested
DeAngelo, Tony TBL 2014 19 5'10 176 D R 24-Oct-95 Sewell, NJ -- has been traded to Arizona
Pulock, Ryan NYI 2013 15 6'1 212 D R 6-Oct-94 Dauphin, MB -- don't know.
Juulsen, Noah MTL 2015 26 6'1 176 D R 2-Apr-97 Abbotsford, BC -- was a fan of him last summer; haven't watched a lot of WHL games this year; how the heck did he drop from 52 to 28 points? MTL has a bunch of fwd prospects, not so much on D.
Roy, Jeremy SJS 2015 31 6'0 185 D R 14-May-97 Longueuil, QC -- can't see SJS being interested, fits a need.
Honka, Julius DAL 2014 14 5'10 181 D R 3-Dec-95 Jyväskylä, FIN -- DAL is rumored to go young on the blueline after parting with Goligoski and Demers. Honka is a huge part of that.
Santini, Steven NJD 2013 42 6'2 207 D R 7-Mar-95 Mahopac, NY -- no clue.

My #1 LHD prospect I'd like the Jets to acquire would be Esa Lindell. Might have to trade Comrie to get it done, as Dallas needs a good goalie prospect.

Interesting. In a one for one trade, what are the benefits on each side?

benefit for EDM - get a DMan that can play right now, also left side.
benefit for WPG - get a LD prospect, sort of evening up the sides.

Nurse:
upside -- top pairing, physical, some offense
downside -- very poor man's Bogosian, bottom pairing goon
downside way more likely after watching him this season, making plays that make Bogosian look smart.

I don't make that trade, I just sign Trouba instead.

Trouba >>> Nurse, so "no".

I should have written "they'd ask for Trouba" instead of just "Trouba". Obviously, it doesn't make sense.

The benefit for the Oilers would be that they'd aquire a top pairing D for a middling prospect. There would be no benefit for the Jets - only a horrible loss.

Agreed. And no way is Theodore worth Connor or Ehlers.

Nothing else gets a discussion going. Defensemen (especially exempt ones) are a scarce resource.

Fully understand the scarcity of young D, it's why I'm not fully on board with moving Trouba. Just don't agree that even with that being said, that Theodore is close to Connor or Ehlers. If you're saying you think Anaheim would ask for them, I could see them asking. I don't think it's fair value though.

Morrissey had pretty close to equal metrics as Theodore in the AHL based off the chart Garret posted. I would just as soon keep Trouba and give Morrissey the opportunity before trading a prime forward prospect for LHD prospect.

I actually think that if the Jets didn't have such a sterling winger prospect pool, we'd all be a great deal higher on Morrissey right now.

The Outer Limits.
Definitely not interested in moving Ehlers or Connor for Theodore.

I would rather aim a little lower and just add quality depth than give up an exciting young offensive talent.

I think we should do a trade involving De Leo, Kosmachuk and Petan.

Petan would have a better shot at the top six on another team, Kosmachuk would get a crack at the line-up as well and De Leo... from watching him he's the next Jason Krog.
