Bozak and Phaneuf will be moved almost guaranteed. Bozak likely this offseason, Phaneuf if there is a good enough offer and may be moved during the season or next season.

Lupul will now likely be kept until next year. There is a very good chance he turns it around now that he's back on the first line. As long as he doesn't get some dirty hits against him, there's a 90% chance he doesn't have any serious injuries next year (100% if he stays away from Phaneuf slap shots and sticks on the ground).

Gardiner, Holland, Kadri, Bernier and JVR will all be around for the long term and phased out as soon as they don't fit anymore or get a good enough offer. Holland, Kadri and Gardiner have many players in the system they will have to fight in order to keep their jobs. Bernier and JVR not so much, but they can't sleep either.

The good news is, none of our players are going to go for a desperation deal like Kessel. These guys are respected and will only go for an acceptable price. I expect a center and a defenseman to be moved though.

Gardiner. Followed by Lupul (unmovable), Phaneuf, and Bozak (absolutely gotta be moved).

I see it kind of exatly like this hockey brother here as it stands.

I can't see any deal happening where somebody would want Joffrey Lupul in return............

I can see some deals. Lupul isn't as bad as people make him out to be. Maybe he's not worth a boatload right now, but neither was Franson last offseason. Lupul has a major opportunity this year. He's almost guaranteed to do a whole lot better, since he's playing with more minutes (he's produced a better PTS/60 with more minutes) and with better linemates (hopefully Kadri and JVR). He's our 1RW next year; hopefully that helps him a little bit.

Im not sure if they'll move any of them.

With the value out there being what it is they might think there's more use for them to fill roster spots.

But I think bozak is the most likely. If they decide a 2nd is acceptable.. But even then they could just keep him until the trade dl or even before the next draft and get similar return.

They'd probably like to move lupul if they could. But same deal.

Yours mines and everybody's real problem with Joffrey is though... all those injuries. Will he get those more minutes you are talking about? I hope so. But every indicator is telling us he'll get hurt again or does something real stupid on the ice and then falls or hits himself. He just tends to play the real game in so many wrong ways. That Anaheim stanley year where joffrey played real good in the playoffs too, he hasn't stayed healthy ever. That's too bad because Joffrey is actually a fine player when those important games begin. In the playofffs.

But he just does wrong things on the ice. Stumples and crashes into wrong places and gets the wrong people behind him and in front of him and then they splash him and slash him etc hit him hard from every single angle. Many people are now recognigizing this and not wanting him. I hope Joffrey does better in the future.

well Phaneuf isn't going anywhere, Babcock wants to make Dion his pet project.

I think they'll trade him if a suitable deal comes along.
Me too when the time comes.

I mean.. look at his past. He's failed under SO many coaches already. So many players around the league dont' respect him at all. They shoot pucks at him when the play is stopped.... I mean come on. I've seen so many players LAUGH) at our Dion around the league. That's even.... sad.

Can't see him doing better under Babcock. Not so much he would be a great player, even good. Babcock can get new things from him, but not enough. He'll still make mistakes and couldn't get that respect from other players. That there won't never change. Ever.

Lupul. Too much term and money owed for someone so injury prone. Hopefully he can stay healthy early on and often so he may appear more attractive come the deadline. I don't believe the Leafs are entertaining the idea of trading Gardiner, so he is also least likely because it would have to take quite the offer for the Leafs to ship him off.

Staal shot at Dion cause he leveled his brother and then fought him an hour earlier that incident has nothing to do with lack of respect for Dion.

Dion is one of the top point producers at his position while getting the most difficult defensive minutes, saying he's failed under so many coached is simply false. There have been 584 defenders play over the last 7 years, Dion is 10th in goals scored. Racked up 11 GWG which is 1 behind 9th place. While the teams he has been on have been fairly crappy, statically speaking he has not been anywhere near a failure.

I don't want to hijack this thread into Dion is good vs Dion is horrible debate, I think there is enough of those type of threads but you were just so blatantly wrong with your post I felt it justified a correction.

WTF is you talking about up there? You say shooting pucks at somebody isn't nothing to do with RESPECT??!!! :biglaugh: You is WRONG!!!!! :biglaugh:

Let me tell you something son. And I'm talking with a whole lot of life experience like a real man now. Nobody, and I means nobody should throw, shoot or spit on somebody. Not anytime anywhere. If that there happens a muther should step up and kick that ass. Deep on that ass. A lesson learned. Served.

If I as an investor and a sports follower and fan have look at this type of action anymore like somebody shooting pucks at my players.... then I won't like it one bit. I then step and tell it like it is man.

If a muther shoots at somebody with pucks or bullets then he doesn't respect the other mother anymore. Or he or she never even did. Think about that stuff for a long long while. You just don't do that dirt there. To nobody.

Gardiner has such great advanced statistics that it's highly unlikely that the analytics-wise Leafs will move him.

They will try to move any of the other three if possible for any positive return. Good players, but the wrong age, the wrong fit, and the wrong salary.

Definitely want to keep Gardiner. And like everyone else, I think Lupul is simply ours to keep for a while.

Bozak and Lupul will only be dealt if and when a team got hit by long term injuries and need them to secure their playoff run. But that only goes to contenders like Hawks, Kings, Habs, Pens, lightings, Rangers, and Ducks.

Of which, I think if Lupul can score like 18+goals before the trade deadline and manage to be healthy! there will be teams come knocking.
Bozak is an interesting case, since 5.5 mil for a face off specialists is a bit high not to mention the 3 yrs contract.

Dion and Jake are going no where unless Babcock thinks they don't get it, but if that's the case, doubt anyone would want them.

Gardiner is not likely to be moved but that's not due to market value really, as the OP wrote. His market value might be low, but he should be easy to move. So I'd say, in order of least likely to most:

Lupul - Phaneuf - Bozak - Gardiner

Yes, if he stays healthy and has a really good year, what can we get for him?

Would you say higher than a 6/7th rounder?

No way Gards gets traded, especially when we have so many guys who take advanced stats very seriously. If Gards gets switched to the right we have 2 of our top 4 set in Rielly and Gardiner.

It reflects poorly on the moron who shot the puck at Dion, not Dion. Just like Alfredsson shooting a puck at Niedermayer reflected poorly on Alfredsson, not Niedermayer.

Seem to remember an awe full a lot of Leaf fans dumping on Alfredson for doing that calling him classless but in almost the same scenario with Dion the focus is on the guy getting shot, he is to blame not the shooter.... interesting ...
