Honestly the only numbers that should be up there are 19, 21, and 33. Sorry 23 and 52.

This opinion is wrong.

Hejduk:
#1 in Avalanche games played
#2 in Avalanche total points
#1 in Avalanche game winning goals
#2 in Avalanche goals scored
#3 in Avalanche assists
#1 in Avalanche power play goals
Former Captain
Stanley Cup Champion
Rocket Richard Trophy
3X All Star
Only player in our rafters who ONLY played here

Footer belongs too.

#77 is the only one that doesn't belong.

On top of that he was insanely loyal to the organization.

I think Hejduk absolutely should be up there, and there isn't really much debate to me on it. I get arguments against Foote more than I do Hejduk... though I think Foote should still be up there.

I agree.

To me teams should only retire the numbers of star players, those who were unquestionably among the top dogs in the league and did wonders for the franchise.

I would just do what the Leafs are doing with the second tier franchise talents like Foote and Hejduk.

I actually think Bourque's belongs up there, but that the Avs should not have done it before Boston did. And the only reason I tend to be fine w/ Bourque's number being retired is because of how instrumental he was in that second Cup.

Still...they should have waited until after Boston had done it.

The fact that the Leafs are doing it, is reason enough to handle it differently.

What does this even mean?

I think the Leafs are really smart when it comes to retiring numbers for good.
A)They're incompetent, through a the last 50 years

B) They've been around for over a century and were part of the league when it had 6 teams and a lot less player movement so there will be more players that would meet normal standards for any other franchise.

If Bourque belongs up there then so do a bunch of other numbers. He didn't even play two full seasons for the Avs.

He had a major impact on the franchise, and was a huge catalyst toward the 2nd Cup. He was a bonafide 1st ballot HoFer. I don’t think they made a mistake in *doing* the retirement, they made a stupid mistake doing it before Boston (as I already said).

He’d be pretty much the only exception I could see in a similar scenario.

You seem to forget the team was actually struggling before he showed up, and the only guys who were arguably bigger contributors to that Cup win were Sakic and Roy.

The numbers that are up there now are the ones that should be up there.

There are bigger retirement outrages in town.

The only people that deserve to be in the Ring of Fame less than Dan Reeves are Al Davis and Josh McDaniels.

Doug Moe shouldn't have a number retired... it should be one of his awful sports jackets or a torrent of cartoon profanity like @#$*%!

I selected 'other' because I think Nieto will be up there too someday. can't see them getting another Long Beach native in the organization.
