He is currently at 171 and Jari Kurri is 3rd with 233 points (see chart below). Will he surpass Kurri? Bonus question: will he surpass Messier? That seems more unlikely.
You also have to factor in that the Pens have made the playoffs for 12 straight seasons.I expect he'll finish #3 at least, but that's amazing considering the era he's played in. If he has a deep run he could be sitting at 190 points by age 30.
That's a great feat.He'll probably catch Kurri but not Messier. What's impressive, though, is the context of his totals. He'll be the only player on that top 10 list that didn't play in the high-scoring 80s and 90s (and the only player in the top 5 who didn't ride shotgun with Gretzky).
