I hope that top 5 vote was an accident because he's not even a top 5 European.
Not a chance. If it wasn't for Clarke breaking Kharlamov leg the Russians would have won that series.Makarov >

During the 72 series Kharlamov was the most dominating player on the ice period.

It’s close!Makarov was better than Kharlamov.
It’s close!
BS Peak Kharlamov vs his peers is something the world has never seen save for the great 3 period. He would’ve dominated the nhl in a Gretzkyesque way
Makarov--Kharlamov
MVP: 3--1
Top 5: 10--8
1st AST: 10--7
Pts leader: 8--1
Top 5: 8--5
Top 10: 9--6
WC AST: 8--3
It's basically 8 rosses and 3 harts for Makarov vs 1+1 for Kharlamov. Makarov was also a better 2 way player. I don't see how it's close. Kharlamov is a very overrated player.
Where do you rank Valery Kharlamov all time?
It’s not about quantity it’s about quality. Maybe Kharlamov never got back to his old self after that 72 series injury.
OK so winning 8 scoring titles isn't quality?
To win scoring title is quality, to win [8] scoring title is quantity.
Outside top-20, inside top-50.
Amusing amount of sophisty in this thread.
I went top 50 because hes closer to 50 than 100 and could be in the top 50 I think if I broke it down. But if hes 55-60 I still voted top 50 just because its a bit closer and doesnt imply he could be 90th or something. He's definitely closer to 50 than 20 for me. I voted top 100 conservatively, but he's probably real close to 50 one side or another.
So he has a quantity of quality wins..To win scoring title is quality, to win [8] scoring title is quantity.
