Hello all. Could anyone in the St. Louis area let me know where visiting teams stay when they play here? A friend of mine told me that some of the teams (ie Chicago and Colorado) stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton, but that other teams tend to stay at closer hotels. I'm curious about the Penguins for when they come into town in a couple of weeks. My wife and I would love to try to get to meet a player or two from the team. Thanks.

I know teams have stayed at the Lumiere as well. Chelsea stayed there for their soccer match.

Four Seasons at Lumiere is the usual spot for visiting teams to stay for all sports

The Lumière opposite the Edward Jones Dome is probably your best bet.

Just happened to be leaving the Lumiere around 4:30 last night and saw all of the Pens players coming out in their suits getting on a bus to head down to Scottrade.

Anyone know where the Aves are staying?

As the topic says...

Anyone know where the Aves are staying? They play tonight in Carolina, not sure if they'll fly out after the game, or tomorrow, but either way... I'd like to take my kid down to meet a couple of old acquaintances from days gone by...

Thanx in advance!

I posted in the other thread about visiting teams and where they stay, but haven't had a reply so I figured I'd try a fresh one... I'm new here and not completely certain on protocol, so I apologize in advance...

Anyway, I'm an old acquaintance of Roy's and Sakic (along with a few others from the old cup team) and just wanted to take my 10yr old down and say hi basically and introduce my son to a few people... With that said, if any of you guys do the autograph thing, I can assure you that I won't be repeating where they are, nor step on anyone's toes either. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate an IM or whatever...

Let me know if possible pls, and thanx in advance!

The Avs normally do stay at the Lumiere BUT if you go down there security will show up 5 minutes later and if you don't leave immediately the cops show up shortly after. I’ve gone down there a few times and this happens again and again. I DO NOT approach the players and I’m standing at least 50 feet back from the front entrance. It’s such a bummer. :(

Do you know if Sakic travels with them or not? I'm somewhat friends with him and Roy, but I don't want to bother them at any inconvenient times... Better to just call, but those guys "used" to use aliases on the road... And I know there's nobody by the name "Roy" staying there, and asking for multiple names, all being part of a group reservation, throws up some flags I'm sure... Who knows what these people see on their "screens" when looking people up, ya know?

I've been out of the game for so long, I've forgotten all the tricks, but I can only imagine the technology available these days... :/

My gig is trying to get with Patrick or Joe, "before" the morning skate. They both sort of owe me, and I just want a practice jersey, and the only time to get one (before they're packed away) is after the morning skate...

The only reason I know they stay there is because they once practiced at the Mills and some younger kid told me that's where they stayed. The next time they were in town I went down there. Saw them in the lobby and waited for them to come outside to ask for an autograph, but security showed up and the cops were called.

Oh, and why would you stand outside? Go inside, sit in the lobby, look inconspicuous, like you belong there, and wait for the "one guy" you want to get/talk to, whatever... OR, go in and dump $5 in a slot, hope you win and keep the cash-out ticket. If security stops you, you're just gambling, and taking a break out of the casino... They can't arrest you, or do anything for trespassing if you're patronizing the establishment... Go in to the restaurant in the morning and have breakfast, get a spot where you can see guys walking through, and save your receipt...

Know what I mean?

I have a 5 year old nephew that usually likes to come with me to meet the players. (He's met the players in Colorado before at their practice facility). I've never been inside the casino area. Will my nephew be allowed as long as we don't go into the actual casino where the slots and tables are?

Next time, go inside, act like you belong there, just don't walk up to every player, wait for the right time... Also, carry whatever you want to get signed in a laptop case, aka, NOT a binder full of hockey cards... I used to know a lot of guys in the league, back in the day, 10+ years ago, made a lot of decent friends as a result...

Good luck!

Shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't go in the casino... Best thing to do is go down, stake the place out, make sure they're there, and if so, go back in the morning, 8ish, and have a nice long breakfast and wait... Bus will pull up about 30 mins prior to leave time and that's when you chill in the lobby... Half the guys will cab it if they're morning skate is at Scott... Just depends on timing really... And if they skate first, or the Blues do... Blues used to skate first, and probably will tomorrow, just depends on travel day(s) the day before... If a team has a game the night before on the road, the other team will usually skate first, and the team who got in late will take the late skate...

But again, I'm going off things from 10+yrs ago, but I can't imagine it's changed much, it's all logic really...

I am actually glad this thread exists lol.

I'm for sure going to their game in April, which is an afternoon game. So would my best bet to see them be after the game when they are leaving the arena?

I would imagine they wouldn't want any "distractions" while leaving the hotel to go to the rink for the game, as opposed to going to the rink for a morning skate.

Yes--You'll have a better shot meeting them before or after a practice than with a game, especially when they lose to the blues :).

Impossible to get em after a game, unless they fly out the next day and go out that night... Best way to tell is if they "load" the bus at the hotel with luggage and other gear "before" the game, or by looking at their schedule... If they have a game the next day somewhere, they'll fly out immediately after the game.

The bus pulls "in" Scott so you can't get em that way... The only way is at the hotel. If they cab it, they'll go in the press entrance on the side, where they're easy to get.

I'd imagine they got in today sometime around noon as they played in Carolina last night. That's my best guess anyway...

If anyone goes down tonight, please post where they're staying.

Actually, I've never had a problem getting any team before a game, that's a good time to get em actually... Be at the hotel around 4 and chill... They'll leave around 5 or so, cabs will start around 4-4:30.

Unless it's the playoffs, if so, all bets are off and teams are well hidden and guarded, and some coaches forbid players from even talking to anyone... Bowman was notorious for this! He's a dick!
