When's the last time the Hurricanes, or any other team for that matter, has given a time frame diagnosis in the middle of the game the guy got hurt in?

You'd have to watch A LOT of games to know the answer to that question.

Not so sure Anton isn't a better long term answer than Cam. Cam never made the jump, the big jump to elite. He's always been behind a terrible D, but something is always 'missing' in his game.

Anton's GP by season reads like this: 2, 4, 1, 14, 3

I'd pump the brakes a little on speculation that he's going to end up making the "big jump to elite".

Once again, have we really not learned from last year?

A backup having a few good games doesn't mean Ward is suddenly expendable.

ive lost faith in cam's ability to stay healthy (hope anton is really ready for a heavy load)

and quickly losing faith in JR's decision to build around the Staal's

2 playoff appearances in 10 years (though 1 did produce the Cup) is now approaching the equation of 1 Cup > 8 years of mediocrity? Right this minute I still would take the 1 championship but def expect playoffs this year.

Draft busts are killing us--really need Lindholm to play like a #5 pick potential star

The signing of dipietro suggests even jr does not necessarily think khudo is enough for us. Dipietro is too big a name for jr to bury in the minors with no shot. If rick shows he's legit he's gonna play even if the other two are healthy.

I'm in the camp suggesting we need a bigger sample on former echl goalie khudo being our future. It's nice to have an upgrade on peters, that's for sure.

@ snake - I think lindholm is a couple years away unfortunately.

It worked for the Islanders.

I don't necessarily think you meant it to come across this way but a player, especially a goalie having played in the ECHL isn't some indictment against their talent, IMO. When you look at the ECHL alumni list that have made it into the NHL you definitely see some actual talent there particularly in net. Lest we forget, Irbe, Kolzig, Aebischer, Biron, Halak, Holtby, Lalime, Legace, and others were all former ECHL goalies.

Dipietro was still only signed to a PTO, and he got shellacked in his first game. I know PTOs can lead into something else, but I wouldn't even factor him into Carolina's equation anytime soon.
