Glad Chevy got it done.
Little richer than I thought it would be, but I also picked Wheels to lead us in points.
Love the length.

Will let you guys know when the presser is and of course will have all the audio on site as soon as it is done. Likely tomorrow at some time.

Wheeler signed for 6 years.

11am. Listen on TSN. We air from 10-noon tomorrow and will carry the presser live.

Only about .3 more than I thought. Not bad, especially with the huge jump in the cap next year.

I don't know how anyone could be shocked by this.
This is pretty much what he was expected to sign for.
He is a top line rw
Top line players get paid

Wait until bogosian gets 6 a year....

A little more than I expected (was thinking 5.2-5.4), but as the cap goes up it won't matter as much. Very glad he's locked up for a good number of years.

Awesome!!! :handclap:

Love this. My guess was we would sign him for 5.5 through his UFA years. I also figured it would be a 5 year deal, love that it's 6 and the Jets retain him for his first 5 UFA years.

Wheeler could and should hit the 70 point column this year.

wheels was going to be a UFA next season and those are the years we are buying. Young guy that entered his prime in 2012 and has been putting up good numbers since. this is not cheap but it never was going to be with Blake. I think we could have got 3 years at 5.25 but to get the long term in an NHL who's cap may go up a fair amount it's going to cost you.

Longer term than I expected and a bit higher $ but nice to have another anchor point locked down tight. I think he's still got upside too.

No doubt bogo's gets done soon too now...

Not signalling anyone here in particular out, but I love the fallacy that TNSE is too cheap.
And yet many of those same people will complain about over paying.

Rather the Jets pay that money to someone approaching the peak of their game, rather than some rickety old timer like Iginla, Jagr, Alfredsson, etc. etc. etc.
