Jagr, 2 goals one assist, 11 shots on net against the Finns. He might have a excellent season coming up . The picks back might not have been enough. 9 points in 7 games.

After Finlands loss to Czechs tonight

Jagr comforted Barkov when they shook hands after that game and told him "We're gonna play like this next season and win the stanley cup" and fatherly tapped him on his shinpads

Josefson just scored for the Swedes...a point shot from a defenseman with a nice rebound. Josefson got it, had an open net, and scored. Great tournament for him so far.

He continues to take steps. If JJ starts to pan out into a good forward on the offensive side of the ice to go along with his good checking it would be a great boon for the team.

How the hell did the USA win so many games?

And I'm surprised they couldn't get one Schneider, Anderson, or Howard to play in goal for them. They also have a pretty elite goaltender in Ryan Miller, that's been doing nothing for over 2 weeks now.

They've been winning though.

The Russians are the only real competition they versed. They lost to Belarus though. The US has a Ok team. Sweeden also did not send most of the stars they have.

Canada vs Czechs on right now. Also Russia USA in three hours for those of you who may be bored. Semifinals.

Why all the disappointing comments toward Eichel in the IiHf main boards. It is a different league than Juniors. What were they expecting.

I thought Eichel was pretty good this tournament for the most part. Didn't really disappoint IMHO. I didn't see the game today though. Not sure why people are disappointed when they played a tough Russian team.

People had way too high expectations of what Eichel could do at this stage in his career, I think, and that set them up to be disappointed, so they converted that disappointment to anger. Eichel did fine but it just shows he probably won't be a superstar in the NHL right away. Americans in particular hate to be patient, but sometimes you have to be.

On a less philosophical note, I really like how the USA has competed this tournament. I'm proud of the effort they've put in so far and how well they've done given that the expectations for this roster heading into the tournament were pretty low. Dylan Larkin has definitely caught my eye. Detroit knows how to draft 'em.

Kovalchuk ushers his players out before the Canadian anthem.... type of person he is. Ovechkin and Malkin try to get some teammates of the team to stay.

Kovy just continues to lower my opinion of him. Very unsportsmanlike behavior. :shakehead

Proud of the USA boys getting bronze, though. Nice that they didn't give up like the Sochi team did. :cheer:

Or how bout JVR, or Kessel, or any decent veteran skater? Cool to see the young guys out there, but I see superstar veterans all over this tournament, but not for USA.

Yeah I don't know if this is a further repute of the guys on that Sochi team, or maybe worse, team USA doesn't want those guys? And is instead looking to build around Eichel and Jones etc going fwd.

Also seeing Eichel as the future of US hockey is nice.

But then I think of Canada adding McDavid to their already stacked Center position.

Scary.

I'd be surprised if Kessel and JVR weren't invited to the World Championships this year. I think they just preferred to stay home and go golfing or play video games.

Still think it was pathetic how the USA boys (except for about five of them) didn't show up for the Finland game in Sochi, but I think we'll see a lot of the prominent guys back for 2018 if NHL goes, but new faces Eichel and Jones will probably go to that tournament, so it will probably be a mix of veterans and new blood in the 2018 Olympics if NHLers are allowed to compete.

Honestly one of the reasons the USA did so well was because of their goalie. He had a case after Rinne to get the best goalie. I think he actually won a award after the gold medal game That Canada played. Also made 39 saves against the Czechs today. The rest of the players also bought in.

Eichel had 7 points in 10 games...he is 18 years old.

For comparison Crosby had 11 points in 10 games and he was on a stacked team and Jager had 9 points in 10 games.

Sounds like an awesome showing to me for a yet to be drafted 18 year old on not such great team.

Looking at the video from yesterday, it appears that Ilya Kovalchuk (RUS captain) was waiving to players still on the ice to leave. #Leader

The Russian Federation is supposedly going to be fined by the IIHF for what happened:
